I'm just gonna lawyer rant about something here for sec - I just read that the SCOTUS clerks have been asked to voluntarily hand over their phones to law enforcement for furtherance of the leak investigation, and let me fucking tell you the answer to that should be NO NO NO please speak to my fucking lawyer.

Anyone who voluntarily hands over private information and communications to law enforcement without a fucking warrant is out of their fucking minds. People say stuff like 'well if you've got nothing to hide...' BULLSHIT. If law enforcement wants to ruin your life they're gonna do it and you don't need to fucking help them.

Following the 9/11 attacks the government passed a bunch of fucking laws to combat terrorism and one of them included legalizing warrantless wiretapping on U.S. citizens so long as they're speaking to someone outside of the country. 90-some-odd-% of the charges that resulted from the warrantless wiretaps were drug charges. Not terrorism. Drugs. When the government wants to get something on you they fucking will.

If any of those fucking law clerks voluntarily hands over their phone they should go back to their expensive fucking Harvard and Yale and Stanford law schools and ask for a goddamned refund.

I'm sure everyone has a moment where they vent about something or someone with a person they trust. But there is a difference between "talking shit about someone" and saying something in DMs to people that I know won't immediately go and air out my dirty laundry, because i do not want to offend anyone or be mean to them just because I might disagree with someone. We are all entitled to our opinions and I would never go and bother someone personally, because i do not want to cause unnecessary drama. I keep to myself for exactly that reason and if you happen to be one of the people that I trust with my thoughts and also my (very over the top and never actually serious) rants, then i trust you enough to not turn on me and stab me in the back, but clearly that trust was misplaced.

I'm not here for drama, im here to have my favs kiss on my dash and share my art and fic to make people and myself happy because this world is fucked up enough as it is.
