Digimon Beatbreak Theory Thread | E-pulse colours and what they might represent. 1/2
So I'm testing out a theory about E-pulse if anyone is curious, I wanna here what people have to say about this as this is mainly born from me rewatching the episodes recently and taking note of e-pulse colours, this is not a post that goes into what certain colours might mean as we actually haven't seen enough e-pulse colours to chart a whole emotion spectrum based on it.
This is also likely going to be split up into two parts at the end like my original Kyo analysis post! I didn't intend originally to make this into a two parter but I once again, ended up rambling again. Will update this post once I've got it done!
So please stay tuned, and enjoy!
So let me ask you guys a question.
What's the difference between these two images?
further more, how does this connect to these two instances of a digimon evolving?
Before I explain, let me go back a bit to where a lot of this came from
In Beatbreak, E-pulse is looking to be essentially the colour of a persons soul as a digimon tamer/cleaner, very similar to how digisoul works in data squad/savers, but what if there was something a bit more regarding the colours we've seen?
As the episodes have been progressing, We've been seeing a lot of different e-pulses colours in digimon beatbreak, which is of course, fairly common for digimon and similar series in general and as we saw in episode 9, Haruko's e-pulse is a bright red.
This indicates that this is the distinct color to her person as a cleaner and when she channels her e-pulse into Chiropmon's egg to power them up, it's now glowing brightly. She has fed her e-pulse to Chiropmon akin to how Tomoro powers up Gekkomon, A standard cleaner duo takes the sapotama of the digimon and blast it full of E-pulse to help them fight with.
So why am I pointing this out? What's the deal here?
So it should be known, that e-pulse chips all look the same. Theyre a light coloured/white and interface all the same with a sapotama, unless their e-pulse is glitched like Tomoro's, who we know to either be a rare case or a case without much study into it.
While I do suspect Tomoro's e-pulse to be particular unique in a way, we're not here to talk about that.
If the white colour of an e-pulse is the standard colour, what if someone with a unique coloured e-pulse, is a sign that they've hatched a digimon and that their e-pulse is now transformed, or even glitched?
I'm now going to talk about what happens when someone hatches a digimon and didn't likely have a glitch beforehand before hand like Tomoro as Tomoro's case seems to be very unique in the matter and it's context. (Also he's the main lead of this season)
From what we can see in episode 8, when Mimicmon's human first "hatched" his sapotama, his e-pulse and sapotama turned yellow, signifying that his e-pulse had possibly transformed or "glitched" and in doing so, hatched the "mirror" image of himself from a sapotama, even if he supposedly rejects these thoughts that created Mimicmon.
If we ever see a continuation of this guy trying to continue life as normal, I do have to wonder if his e-pulse has turned back to normal, or if it is still "yellow" and is affecting his chances of getting into the egg.
If it still, this might be an indication to why shangri-la might consider someone hatching a digimon as "un-ideal" and why theres so much focus on "reaching your ideal self"
If your e-pulse or in other words, your "soul" isn't "pure and white" and "tainted with a hue" then you are flawed and must discard your "self" or be cast out of paradise. Very classic screwed up utopia messaging thank you if that is the case.
Back on topic regarding e-pulse colours and tamers though. Cause I'm not here to talk about the possible implications regarding society trying to push perfectionism. (Not yet at least)
When we look at Machmons tamer, Yukari and Astamon and even now with Haruko and Shademon, one thing is very clear, the digimon that these individuals have are very likely the same digimon that was hatched from their sapotama. Their digimon are mirror and align with their thoughts and intentions.
So...what of the Fanbeemon and Kenkimon tamers?
So, to be clear, this guy is not a cleaner. Nor is the guy partnered with Kenkimon, especially seeing as he just left Kenkimon's baby form for dead when Astamon showed up.
They're thieves and mooks who are utilizing digimon for their crimes. One stole watches and the other essentially works with a Yakuza group to bulldoze properties. They're criminals first and foremost and while Watch guy was able to digivolve his Fanbeemon, I get the sense that Fanbeemon wasn't from his sapotama, same with Kenkimon's tamer.
Why? Because their e-pulse hasn't changed. Its the same colour of white/light blue that a unglitched e-pulse has in society.
In Episode 9 it was basically confirmed that theres some kind of black-market for digimon and certain types of digimon are highly sought after, like Chiropmon, which is known for their analytical prowess and spyware and are apparently hard to get.
This where I think those two got their digimon partners from instead of hatching them from their own eggs, because I think that its fairly likely that if you know you can hatch a digimon, why bother risking with a mirror of yourself especially if you see digimons as tools to use in your schemes?
And because instead of hatching them, their e-pulse remains the same, unchanged, untapped. They haven't awoken their potential.
Same can probably be said with Digimon who are acting alone typically, like Hyemon.
Hyemon in beatbreak is an...interesting topic, especially with how they likely store e-pulse and funnily enough, this doesn't get explained at all mechanically and so what happens is that we need to piece two and two together about how Hyemon stores e-pulse leftovers.
There's another piece I wanna talk about regarding Hyemon in another post that actually leads somewhat back into E-pulse colours and into some implications regarding Asuka, but I'll keep it brief and talk about it later.
Without better examples for this currently, I'm going to say for now when Hyemon Pierced digivolved to Fangmon, the Sapotama colours they had was just E-pulse they had stored up over time. Possibly even some of Hitomi's that they had taken from her and as we currently know, Hitomi has still got a standard e-pulse (I am holding out for her to be partnered with the Punimon though in the future)
This here, is likely the standard evo of a "wild" digimon who isn't partnered and is running purely on e-pulse from cold hearted victims or if they are partnered, its with someone who has a unglitched e-pulse.
It is however entirely possible that if a wild digimon feeds on someone with a unique/powerful e-pulse however, that will be reflected in their sapotama core. Even if they're technically unpartnered.
People keep asking me why I'm so chill and acceptable about the casting of the Percy Jackson series, and I really don't know what to tell you other than the fact that I'm not racist.
Ok I am nothing if I’m not predictable and I’m gonna kiss this old man too so here’s my idea for an Aquaman self insert!!
So, after the events of the movie when Arthur becomes king of the sea I assume it’d become well known that Atlantis does in fact exist and so do fish people. It’s a whole new WORLD of possibility for scientists and conspiracy theorists alike. In this universe I pursued my childhood dream of becoming a marine biologist, who also has a soft spot for various myths and legend so I waste no time heading out to sea in order to find it to be able to study its ecosystem!
It’s too bad I’m shit at sailing, so it doesn’t take long for a storm to brew and for me to be thrown from my tiny ship into the unforgiving see. It’s just through sheer luck that Vulko happened to be on his way to see Arthur, because if he hadn’t been I’d have ended up being flotsam for sure! Little mermaid style he saves me and brings me to Arthur’s house as it’s the nearest safe place he can think of. and when I come to, I sorta gloss over how I almost died because it’s THE Aquaman and his trusted vizier I’m in the presence of! Once I get over my initial shock and they’re sure I’m ok, they find out I live nearby and I’m a scientist who’s looking to document the ecosystem and culture of Atlantis, so naturally I have questions for both of them but mostly for Vulko. Because he’s the one who’s spent his whole life there and not because I think he’s handsome or anything :3
we arrange for him to come to my house a few times out of the week after he’s been to visit Arthur so I can interviews him and he can bring me Atlantean artifacts to document and not because we wanna spend time with each other, nope! Purely for scientific research and all,,
