RANKING THE 12 CAVALRY BATTLE TEAMS FROM THE SPORTS FESTIVAL:

#12. TEAM RIN

Just Rin and Shishida, and they got frozen by Todoroki without doing anything. Pick more teammates next time.

#11. TEAM KODAI

Kodai, Bondo and Manga form a somewhat more stable formation, but they also accomplish little aside from briefly blocking Bakugou’s path.

#10. TEAM KAMAKIRI

Sorry, Togaru and Pony. Pony is actually a definite BAMF, according to the Joint Training Arc, but this duo didn’t get to do enough to really stand out.

#9. TEAM MINETA

Shoji and Tsuyu do give this team a slight leg up on the competition due to being awesome, but making Mineta their rider and team leader was dumb. Choose better next time.

#8. TEAM MONOMA

Monoma’s crew does well at first, but their leader spends too much time monologuing, and given what Kuroiro pulls off in the Joint Training arc they were clearly capable of more.

#7. TEAM SHINSOU

Even though they came in 3rd, we didn’t get to see them in action much or judge their cooperation. Also this was less a team effort since Shinso brainwashed them all, so just a Team f 1.

#6. TEAM HAGAKURE

A lot of this comes from having 4 stable Class 1-A members on their squad, even though they didn’t get to do a ton - but they still at least posed a brief challenge to Deku’s crew.

#5. TEAM KENDO

The official 5th place team, and they’ve got a great lineup of some of Class 1-B’s finest talent. Kendo is a great leader, but as she states they were basically immobilized so the battle doesn’t showcase their talents best.

#4. TEAM TETSUTETSU

The proper 5th place winner in Kendo’s eyes, holding the other top talents in Class 1-B: Honenuki, Shiozaki and Awase. Team of 1B superstars right here.

#3. TEAM MIDORIYA

As much as I love Deku (and Mei, Toko and Ochako) i can only place them 3rd, one place above their official final ranking. They did amazing throughout most of the battle, but I have to critique Ochako for breaking Mei’s stuff and failing to do anything creative throughout the last half - a mistake which she herself acknowledges. The best team needs all 4 to pull their own weight.

#2. TEAM BAKUGOU

2nd place in the final rankings, though mostly carried by their leader, Kiri and Mina’s teamwork is create, Sero contributed plenty with his tape, and that flawless determination and unwillingness to give up makes them a real inspiration.

#1. TEAM TODOROKI

They won cause they’re the best. 4 of the top notch talents in 1-A, a great leader, some truly incredible teamwork from top to bottom, and everyone contributes something important to that victory. They win first place, and they make a great team that we need to see more of in future.

Chapter 38 - Sports Festival: Off To The Races

Get it? Cause it's a cavalry battle...and they're 'horses'? :D Heh heh. Oh, anyone else who keeps up with the manga freaking out about chapter 290? No spoilers but oh man things are spicing up!

Anyway, let's find out the final arrangement of teams and then get right into the first half of the cavalry battle! ^______^ Ready! Set! Go!

And that is the first half of the cavalry battle! :D Most teams are the same because I didn't feel the need to change them too much. Here is the run down of all the teams if you're interested.

So, Izuku's last teammate is Tokoyami! The cliffhanger really left it up in the air but they do that in canon too! Season 2 episode 17 from 12:13 to about 12:23. (My extraness at its finest. :P) We see Izuku reach out and place his hand onto an unknown student's shoulder then it cuts to Monoma's speech keeping it all mystery like. I liked the transition so decided to use it! Tokoyami is one of my favorite characters and I had a lot of fun writing from his pov. Though it took me a bit to get into that bird boy's head. Then I thought, what is the most dramatic way to write this sentence and went with that. Tokoyami is quite the drama bird after all. :P

Hitoshi however went a completely different route from canon. Since he actually has friends I feel like he would resort to brainwashing his way on to a team. It took me a while to figure out who his teammate would be since that would influence future parts of the story. But I hope you like how I did it thus far for this part of the sports festival. ^_____^

Monoma is back in play! Seriously, I want him to become friends with Izuku because I swear there's a less crazy boy in there that only needs someone to believe in him and his copy quirk to bring him out of his shell.

Fun Facts About Japan:

So cavalry battle is a thing and was an event I saw at all three sports festivals I attended. A group of four students made a team of three 'horses' and one 'rider' as seen with most teams in MHA. Each school did the event a little differently. One school only had the boys go against each other, two teams at a time. The riders wore team colored hats and the goal was to take the hats off which would disqualify a team. This was a medium size school so there were three teams. Red went up against blue first and red lost. Then red went up against yellow and yellow won. Then yellow went up against blue and blue won.

Another school had the girls go against girls and boys go against boys. The riders wore team colored hats and gloves with the same goal to take the hat off another team. This was a large school so they had four teams. The girls went first with orange versus red and yellow versus blue. Then orange versus blue and yellow versus red. The boys went next in the opposite order to orange versus blue and yellow versus red. Then orange versus red and yellow versus blue. I don't actually remember which teams won but it was fun to watch!

I have one more school that did the event different but I'll save that for next chapter. ;) Hey! I only have so many fun facts I can share and the length this fic is way longer than I thought so I need to spread them out.

Hey, not dead :D

This is an idea I had for ages. I love combinding animals/things/plants and fantasy creatures to make a new one but when I saw the cavalry battle in bnha I couldn’t get the image out of my head how Team Midoriya would look like as a combinded fantasy-creature :D

Bunny-Body for Midoriya, obviously, for strength in every limb. Tokoyami as the head in the front and dark shadow hiding in the chest. Ochaco as the little pretty pink paws, getting this bunny to jump and float even faster. And Hatsume with her eyesight and additonal boost-babies integrated in their body.

Why? How?

Blame it on a quirk. Maybe its an AU that Midoriya has a second quirk, somehow able to combine them into one body, resembling something, or it’s just me and my brain alone in a dark room :’D

Okay, so for fanfiction purposes, I sought out to try and figure out who had what headband at the end of the Cavalry Battle during My Hero’s Sports Festival arc. Through the power of both observation and math, I’ve managed to figure it out.
