hey! this is chance & here’s week 2's prompt. when you write or create an oc, do you like to reference elements from your life? if yes, name a few. if no, why not?

Heya!

Sometimes! It usually comes through in the description of settings and experiences, like locations I've been to and things I've seen (could be clothes, food, whatever).

For a nice example, there's this long red coat I have that I thought at some point "hey, that sort of coat would look good on a new character" - and then that coat became a staple of the character's look (though I did change the design somewhat to fit the setting of the book). Said character is Eishan from Abyss Book WIP.

For a less nice example, I was very ill for a few days in winter but still took the time to write down notes because it gave me some inspiration for a body horror scene.

CB, aka Abyss Book, is one of my many writing projects and I’m still obsessed with the worldbuilding and characters I developed for it.

Got more feedback from fellow writers, edited this bastard of a book again, sent more queries (again), and am now filled with dread (AGAIN), but doodling my characters helps. Send good vibes, I need just a bit of luck!
