A little collection of CB art (original characters from a novel I wrote).
CB, aka Abyss Book, is one of my many writing projects and I’m still obsessed with the worldbuilding and characters I developed for it.

[Fandoms fucking sleep on the best pairings, i stg]
IT REALLY IS.
bangs a hand onto the desk!!
any time the kids want to hang out they just! sigh! and smile and then brace themselves for at least two hours of awkward small talk, where barret has decided that cloud’s a cold money grubbing asshole and probably just assumes denzel is cloud’s little brother or something, and cloud’s decided barret’s a loudmouth, tree-hugging prick who can’t keep his opinions to himself.
and then they like! get to know each other! and it’s like, oh, cloud had denzel when he was really young and has been struggling to raise him on his own. and cloud realizes barret’s loud and assertive because he has to be in order to be heard and the planet is actually pretty important.

' oh. is this ionia? ' the jester voice's echoed before his silhouette appeared , a finger tapping to his lips as he looks around in a new unknown place - or perhaps one he had forgotten about again. he would turn to the nearest stranger which would appear to be this poor girl that most likely wanted nothing to do with him. ' tell me , are we in... i-o-n-i-a?? is this how you say it? '
she does not like surprises.
misri especially does not like surprises when they consist of strange, disconcerting figures appearing too abruptly near her, with little warning as to when or how they got there. her composure fractures with a show of wide eyes and tensed shoulders. for a very long second, she is still and silent, staring at the offender before her.
" ionia. yes. " she folds her hands in front of her stomach, nails biting into the back of each. " forgive my abrupt question but how did you get here? "

Where do ghosts spend most of their days? What do they do to pass the time? Cloud has those questions every time he looks at Vincent.
That isn’t to say that Vincent Valentine is ghost-- the ex-Turk is very much flesh and blood. Yet he possesses a strange ephemeral quality, perhaps owed to his manner of dress with thick, furling red cloaks and the dead silence with which he can pass through an empty room.
“There aren’t many other people who I know that can travel light and fast. Monster attacks have been growing more frequent...and Reeve is still working out a master plan on the electrical grid to get light going as far out from Edge as possible.”
Ironically, it is Cloud who feels the need to talk at length about any given subject to fill the vacuum in which Vincent Valentine’s silence resides.
“I could use someone to help watch my back,” the blond says with a shrug. He pushes an empty shot glass sitting on the glossy black counter away from himself with a single finger. “I was going to ask for help supervising Denzel and Marlene instead, but I don’t think that’s quite your speed...”
“Bad day? Emergency plans are in order.” [for Cloud]

The muffled sigh is more of a strained exhale, but he doesn't put up much more of a fight than a half hearted glare from where his face is mostly smooshed into the couch where he'd thrown himself upon coming home. "Like what?"
@chaosborne
They respect each other enough not to lie. All of them.
Cloud doesn’t pay lip service to people’s concern. Doesn’t offer empty promises of being fine or reassurances that it will pass, because he doesn’t know. Instead he ducks around the opportunity to be questioned further, avoids their eyes and leaves the room before they can question why the bags under his eyes have grown so dark and heavy. Let them think he’s overworked, overburdened, not doomed.
He’s sick.
He knows he’s sick. Feels it in his very bones. Geostigma makes him ache and see visions of people long gone, stirring up memories that his mind had buried deep. Cloud wanders between deliveries, hunting for answers that simply don’t exist. Trying to track down a cure to stop it, not for himself but for the people who have come to rely on him. It brings him back to Nibelheim, now truly abandoned and forgotten by time.
“I figured you’d stay clear of this place,” he says, his voice low and raspy from a coughing fit. He can feel Vincent’s presence behind him, the weight of his gaze almost a physical thing.

Empyrean Throne debut "Sed Nomini Tuo Da Gloriam" video
Symphonic black metallers Empyrean Throne have debuted the Matt Zane-directed music video for their new track “Sed Nomini Tuo Da Gloriam”. Vocalist Andrew Knudsen commented: “‘Sed Nomini Tuo Da Gloriam’ is the catalyst for our narrative arc within our album Chaosborne. The song encompasses the legendary Battle of Montgisard during the 10th century Ayyubid-Crusader War. We wanted to bring the…
