you have NOOO idea how happy it makes me to get questions on my au!! ahh i love this, all below the cut because as per usual yapfest!
*4, 6, and 9 not canon to my AU anymore
1. Do Dream and Punz get more obviously clingy with each other post prison, or do they try to play it cool?
It goes BEYOND clingy. My cDrunz is actually a severely unhealthy relationship I fear. The unhealthiness gets a lot worse after prison. It’s more than clingy; they are severely codependent. If cPunz ever left him cDream would kill everyone and then himself. Conversely, there is nothing horrible enough that cDream could do that would make cPunz leave him–even killing cPurpled (it would DEFINITELY upset cPunz and fuck him up. But he would not leave.) cDream is in constant physical and mental pain and prison really damaged his self-control, and he really just wants to lash out and hurt people, partially as a coping mechanism and partially because he was trained to hurt people. cPunz is a huge enabler because he genuinely believes that cDream deserves to hurt people. Pre-prison, cDream was still full of extreme violent urges and had a lot of issues, but he also had years and years of being trained to control every aspect of himself, and he was very good at it. Post-prison he has much less control over himself and his aggressive urges. cPunz thinks encouraging cDream to give into his urges will help him, because all he wants to do is help cDream and make him happy. He doesn’t really realize that enabling cDream is making him worse. cPunz enabling him makes cDream see him as the only person who can actually understand him, and makes him normalize his lashing out. They’re a cycle of making one another progressively worse lmao. However! They DO still try to play it cool a bit like before the prison but for the most part they’ve given up on playing that particular game.
2. Did Dream try to stay calm or crash out immediately after the prison cat was killed? (subtly manipulating you into drawing the giant man with his itty bitty kitty)
(it worked. I think Hope was a freaky little ratcat)
At first he tries to stay calm. He’s had years and years and years of controlling himself, and the anger he feels about the cat surprises and then frustrates him. How can he be this mad about a cat? It’s just a stupid cat. He’s not that pathetic, is he? Is Tommy trying to make him fucking snap? Does he think it’ll be funny to see him rage? Funny like XD thought it was funny? Like Quackity thinks it’s funny? He’s gonna show him how fucking funny it is. cDream is VERY paranoid, and if there is one thing he absolutely cannot stand it’s thinking he’s being laughed at, baited, or being seen as pathetic. So his anger about the cat combined with anger at himself for being so angry about the cat made him feel stupid and embarrassed, which just made him madder.
3. How do Techno and Punz feel about each other? Could drunznoblade logically occur in your AU?
cPunz deeply resents cTechno. He loathed pretending to be people’s friends and pretending to hate cDream, and he DEFINITELY hated the prison plan. Meanwhile, cTechno gets to swoop in and break cDream out? (cPunz isn’t jealous to the point of cDream’s detriment; he would one thousand times rather cTechno break cDream out and they get married than cDream stay three more days in prison). He also feels like he always has to measure up to cTechno, the Blood God’s disciple, the one person on the server who can actually beat cDream in a one-on-one fight (cPunz has only managed that once or twice). He was jealous of cTechno for a while, but after the prison break where cTechno took his armor back and sent cDream out into the tundra with nothing, cPunz hates him. He doesn’t care that Ranboo just died, he doesn’t care that cTechno was in shock and going into grief and confusion, all he cares about is that cTechno made cDream walk out into the tundra with nothing but his prison uniform and a shitty pair of boots. cTechno, on the other hand, thinks cPunz is an enormous enabler, which he is. He also thinks cPunz isn’t very trustworthy.
There are two ways drunznoblade could occur: a) cTechno allows cDream to stay with him post-prison to recuperate, and b) cDream accepts cTechno sending him off (which he doesn’t; he sees it as a personal attack and immediately switches cTechno to his list of enemies with zero further consideration). If scenario A or B happened, cPunz and cTechno could grow closer, recognizing their many similarities, and would find that actually they like each other a lot. The relationship between my cDream and cTechno, meanwhile, is more strained and distant than in canon. As a piglin boar, cTechno has very strong pack instincts, leading to his in/out worldview: if you’re not a part of his pack, he doesn’t really care. Now, he likes cDream, a lot, he thinks he’s funny and smart and a good fighter, and he has tried to make friends with him on several occasions. cDream, however, has always kept him at arm’s length, refusing to call him anything besides an ally. In prison, cTechno thought maybe they were getting closer, but then prison break and Ranboo’s death and all happened, and when cDream left he was as cold to cTechno as he was when they first met. There’s an added layer to that too wherein cPhilza DESPISES cDream. cNiki doesn’t loathe him as deeply but she doesn’t like cDream much either. And those are just. cTechno’s people. His pack. cDream has refused to be a part of his pack so many times, he can’t betray his actual pack for a guy who’s repeatedly threatened them and whom they hate. I LOVE drunznoblade and drunznoza, but the chances of it happening are so low as to be near zero in my AU, unfortunately. If I had a healing AU for my AU (AU^2), that’s when drunznoblade/drunznoza would occur.
4. Overall, how religious is the server?
The main deities in my AU are the Death Goddess and the Blood God. Most members are not very religious, and if they are, they follow smaller deities, except for Netherborns. The Blood God is a part of most Nether cultures (the Death Goddess also, but that’s more in relation to Ghasts and Wither Skeletons), and as such, cBad (who grew up in an area with little worship of the Death Goddess, and also mistook the Egg for a gift from the Blood God), cTechno and cSapnap worship the Blood God (though in cTechno’s case his ‘worship’ is a bit looser), but they all disagree on parts of its religious doctrine. cPhil is the only one who is a staunch worshipper of the Death Goddess. The ONLY people who worship Prime reside on the server, and it’s mostly just cTommy. Drista, in that vein, is an unknown to those outside the server, and few people within the server actually know about her or understand what she is. Otherwise, there is one particularly popular deity, named Laika, a minor goddess of luck who appears as a small brown deer with a golden head and large antlers.
5. What's the worst limbo Dream's ever had? What about Punz's worst limbo?
Dream’s worst limbo was sitting in a cage in the middle of an arena, on display, with dead things rotting in the cage with him. Faceless figures kept poking sticks and spears and things through the bars to prod him, and when he snarled and bit like an animal there was laughter from all sides. Punz’s worst limbo was constantly drowning but never dying, with things around him in the water that he kept trying to see but couldn’t because his vision was so blurred.
6. If Punz and Dream did achieve their goal of immortality, what would they do all day?
Realistically, kill and torture everyone they want to kill and torture (ie. everyone Dream wants to kill and torture and Punz wants to help him kill and torture). Beyond that? One would hope that at some point, with, you know, no people left to torture, or somewhere along the way, they would turn to healing instead. If they did, I think Dream would be very interested in studying flora and fauna and becoming a surgeon, potentially. I think it would be very therapeutic for him to open people up to save them instead of killing them. At first he’d probably be doing it only for his personal enjoyment because he finds anatomy and medicine interesting (he’d do a good job, of course, his ego wouldn’t let him perform subpar surgery), but I think eventually he’d grow to care for his patients. I think Punz would join him as his assistant or partner (in the medical sense), and while he probably wouldn’t get the same sort of trauma-healing out of it, I think Dream trauma-healing would help him. The work helps Dream and Dream helps Punz.
7. In a similar vein, what would be the first relationship Dream would try to repair?
Realistically, the only relationship Dream cares to heal is that of his with Drista. He’s written everyone else off completely and blocked emotions about and thoughts of them out. If he were to do some healing (not like in the scenario above, not sure any of those relationships could be saved at that point), maybe a cTechno cabin healing with the Syndicate and Punz post-prison, the first relationship he would try to repair is his relationship to cSapnap, and then cGeorge. And if he was REALLY healing, the next people he’d go to would be cTommy and cTubbo. He would probably be super unenthusiastic about it, but he’d drag his ass over to Snowchester or something and try and figure out what to do.
8. Why does XD choose to bother George?
XD is stuck in the End and can only communicate with the Overworld and the Nether through dreams. He used to have high priests who would host him (meaning he possesses them permanently), but that’s over now. The only people he can reach these days are Dream (who is irritatingly adept at blocking him), Ranboo (yes surprise! Ranboo’s enderwalk state, which in my AU can make him strange and aggressive, is caused by XD. When XD was trapped in the Ender Dragon’s body, he also received some of her powers, making him capable of dream connections to those with End blood. This is why Ranboo’s enderwalk state is sleepwalking, because what’s actually happening is XD is infiltrating his dreams and using them as a means to control him), and cGeorge. I wish I could come up with a more interesting bit of lore for this, but frankly, George just sleeps SO. MUCH. And XD was able to get into his dreams that way. XD can appear to a limited degree within the server, but only as a mirage. He appears very solid, however, and very large, which is how he was able to intimidate cTechno away from opening the End Portal.
9. What and where is Drista? How are she and Dream connected?
Ahhhhhhhhh this one is rough. To put it (relatively) simply: XD made himself into a god, and he wanted to make himself an angel, which would be proof of his godhood and superiority, his voice, and also, as he later decided, his weapon. Prime was his very first attempt, and it did not go well. I’ve said this before but if you want to know what Prime is like just think AM from I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. XD was not pleased with Prime, and killed him in a particularly unpleasant way, long before either Dream or Drista were created. Prime, out of pure spite, stuck around somehow. Not quite a ghost, definitely not alive, not dead yet. Drista was XD’s seventeenth attempt. XD kind of changed what he wanted out of each angel with each experiment, and with Drista, he mostly just wanted a silly little thing to amuse him. He never actually intended for her to be an angel, he just created her on a whim to entertain him while he worked on the next one. Drista turned out to be surprisingly intelligent and, while silly, rather strong-willed. She’s actually transfem because XD wanted all his angels to be male. XD would have been much angrier about it if he didn’t see Drista as something sub-sentient, like a talking cat. For instance, if Dream had tried that, he would have had a much stronger reaction.
Dream is XD’s twenty-eighth and final experiment, and XD considers him to be his only real angel. Unlike many of XD’s other experiments, he chose to create Dream as a child and actually raise him to adulthood, something he had previously resisted doing because he hates children, but XD eventually decided that it was impossible to program complete loyalty to him from birth, and that it would be more effective to raise the child in total isolation and thus perfect Dream’s psyche after perfecting his body, creating the perfect angel. Which is exactly what he did. For the first thirteen years of his life, the only people Dream knew were XD, at first, eventually Drista, and, in strange nightmares, Prime, though he never remembered his interactions with Prime upon waking. XD raised Dream to be aggressive and calm at the same time, extremely violent and extremely controlled. Essentially he was attempting to stamp out nearly all emotions except for love and loyalty to XD, and hate for anyone XD told him to hate. Drista threw that off. When Dream was younger, XD decided to keep Drista around as he figured she would be useful to deal with Dream’s more childlike aspects. After Dream turned thirteen, XD introduced him to his General and enlisted him as a soldier in Essempie’s army, composed entirely of people utterly devoted to XD and more than willing to make war on ‘nonbelievers.’ When Dream turned eighteen, XD made him the Supreme General, or General Seraph, and immediately used him to launch a new wave of propaganda–”hey, you, I have a fucking angel!”--type shit, and had him and the rest of his generals declare war on essentially everywhere, because Essempie was the only place where worship of XD wasn’t punishable by death. XD noticed that Dream was the perfect soldier on the battlefield, casually violent and without a conscience, but when he would return to Essempie he transformed into a different person around Drista.
Unlike Dream, Drista always remained the same age, so eventually their relationship moved from older sister/younger brother-like to more of an older brother/younger sister thing. XD did NOT like that, because he was meant to be the only person Dream was loyal to. I’ll go more into detail on this if you want, but essentially XD manipulated Dream into believing that Drista was deliberately trying to keep him weak so that he would stay with her forever and never go and do the great things he was meant to do (you know, spreading worship of XD through extreme violent force). Drista, meanwhile, has been making contact with Prime, and at exactly the wrong time she starts trying to convince Dream that XD isn’t good to or for them, and that they should leave. To Dream, this just proves that everything XD’s been saying is right. He becomes sullen and withdrawn, more aggressive around Drista, and XD encourages it as much as he possibly can. Their arguments escalate into fights, first verbal, and then physical. Dream has been trained NEVER to leave a fight unfinished, that the fight is only finished when the enemy is beaten to a pulp. In Dream’s worldview, carefully curated by XD, there are people who are not enemies, and people who are. People who are enemies, and XD decides who his enemies are, are not people at all. Over months, he begins to slowly see Drista as an enemy. One day, all the built-up resentment and everything XD has been whispering into his ear erupts, and he accidentally kills Drista. Seeing what he’s done, Dream is absolutely sick, the fog in his head starting to clear a little, until XD shows up. XD tells him he’s so proud of him, he loves him, Dream did the right thing, it was right, and Dream has been so conditioned to place XD above everything else that he gives in. XD encourages him to forget and repress the memory. Dream largely succeeds, except for in his dreams, where he encounters both Drista and Prime. Years and years later, when he returns to Essempie and discovers the existence of the Revival Book through Schlatt, he sees a lead to revenge, and to absolution for what he did to Drista. A way to become a god and devour XD alive, and to bring Drista back and be her older/younger brother again.
10. Is Punz aware that since the recent retcon, he is now the perfect height to simultaneously have his face between Dream's tits AND grip Dream's ass?
Yes. If he could spend the rest of his life there xey would be happy. Punz thinks it’s hilarious that Dream is a pericis man and has DDD cups, meanwhile he, intertrans agender thing, never reached an A cup even when xeir one ovary started trying to screw him over.
