don't mind me, I'm going to ramble a little about decorating plates (with pictures lol)
one of the things I really enjoy about decorating plates is that the rim of the plate is the perfect place to put some kind of framing
(all pieces in this post are sold)
I don't always frame the images, sometimes leaving it uncarved is the best way to accent the central image
or I'll simply continue the design out over the rim of the plate
the rest I'm going to put under the cut lol
Wasn't super happy with the glaze on my sushi plate, even in the sun. It's just a bit too splotchy. But covered in sushi I'm not mad about it lol. It's the right shape and size at least.
some other recent makes of mine :)
Prehistoric* Plates! More below cut!
This is an old ceramic plate by Kiyomizu Rokubei, one of the most famous potter in Kyoto. A yin-yang motif is placed at the center, and around it runs dynamic brushwork painted in iron glaze. The movement of the brush gives the piece a lively expression throughout.
The glaze shows fine crackle, giving the plate the calm and settled character that only comes with age.
This work is thought to date from the period of either the 5th Kiyomizu Rokubei (1875–1959) or the 6th Kiyomizu Rokubei (1901–1980). It is an appealing piece, marked by powerful brushwork and a simple composition.
Kiyomizu Rokubei, one of the most famous potters in Kyoto, is the name assigned to the head of the Kyoto-based Kiyomizu family of ceramists. With over 250 years of history, the studio is now into its eighth generation.

Big shop update tomorrow ( 3/4/25) at 12pm MST! Mostly small bowls and cups, a few of these T spoonrests, and more! As well as relistings of my sold out necklace designs (mothman). The seraphim design is currently restocked and listed right now : )
Trying to work on getting more patches restocked but I am out of fabric </3 I'm also planning a few events soon, so I'm expecting a lot of my ceramic items to move quick (hopefully aaa!!)
