i am explaining this the way i understand it bc i cant remember latin roots somehow. so like did you know "cover" and "discover" have the same latin root? i was crashing out over a word formation assignment and found this out.

okay i got the latin root. for "cover" its cooperire, meaning to cover completely. the word "discover" is a combination of this and the latin prefix "dis-" to imply an opposite meaning. so "discover" is like to unveil, to uncover something, hence used to say when finding something new, like uncovering a secret
