One major, glaring omission in Suzanne Collins world-building for The Hunger Games are the girls and the gays in every district who would roll their eyes and be like “I only watch the games for Cesar Flickerman”

Would you ever consider drawing Plutarch or Caesar from THG? They would look great in your style !

Cesar was so fun to draw, thanks for the request Anon, hope I didn’t disappoint! I went a little freestyle with his design from the hunger games though, cause I wanted to, and it was too much blue in the end.

I will definitely add Plutarch to my list, but I have a hard time imagining him from the books without just seeing him from the movie and I need to workshop him a little before I can draw him

I think next on the list is Haymitch and Effie or Gale and Prim, but I have yet to decide, but don’t be afraid to let me know if there are any specific wishes like this lovely anon

Movies I feel like everyone must watch:

Southpaw- one of my top 3 faves , the story is great , the acting is great. You know something is good when it makes you feel something, and best believe I feel lots of things anytime I watch it. I wanna choke people, I wanna cry, I wanna smack his daughter, I wanna give him a hug. I cry every time. I just love it.

Dallas Buyers Club- INCREDIBLE has to be my #1 favorite. Jared Leto was amazing , I cry every time thanks to him. Matthew McConaughey blew my mind the first time I watched it. And it’s just so educational and realistic and tells a great story.

The Hunger Games Franchise- it’s a fun movie to watch (despite being so dark) haymitch , cesar flickerman, effie, and finnick make it worth the watch. They’re filmed in such beautiful locations and it’s one of Lawrence’s best performances of all time.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- the Johnny depp version though. He portrays a weird outcast so well. The kids were incredible. The oompa loompas were great. The sets were incredible. I just love it, one of my faves to watch around the holidays for some reason.

Coraline- LET ME SAY SOMETHING ABOUT CORALINE REAL QUICK. TO THIS DAY BEING 18 YEARS OLD IM STILL SCARED OF THIS MOVIE AND HAVE NIGHTMARES SO IMAGINE ME AS A LITTLE KID WHEN IT CAME OUT. scarred me for life. The stop motion animation is absolutely gorgeous. The story line is great and teaches a valuable lesson to children. Can be enjoyed by both parents and children. You can get some great Halloween costumes out of it haha

Dunkirk- originally went for Harry , went back for the soundtrack. Though the visuals were phenomenal as well. The acting was great. Told an amazing story from history that I had never heard of before. Brought an important event that tends to be overlooked to light.

"The Games:" The Hunger Games Re-read, Ch 9 & 10

Part two of The Hunger Games ('The Games') begins between Chapters 9 and 10. I guess that most of us would expect that the beginning of chapter 10 is where we enter the arena, but Collins has a sharper point to make. "The Games" begins in the middle of Katniss and Peeta's interviews with Flickerman. What's going on here?

Externally, from an 'action' perspective, we're being reminded that the 'games' aren't just an inevitable struggle between poor people for scarce resources. They're a staged spectacle. They end in blood and sorrow but they begin with glitz, glamour, and wit. They entertain. And they remind everyone of the Capitol's savagery, and they dehumanise the people of the districts; not just in the Capitol's eyes, but in the minds of the district-dwellers themselves. Katniss has consistently seen herself in Capitol terms; as playing the game, helpless not to. Prey or predator. No room for any third thing.

But this perspective is not the whole reality. Pushing against Katniss's consistent assumption of a zero sum game, Peeta speaks his truth. He loves Katniss. Always has.

Before the interviews, Katniss has struggled all day with Effie and Haymitch's attempts to coach her presentation. Already distressed by Peeta wanting to train solo, her inability to 'be' what they so clearly believe she must be sends her deeper into helpless anger. Again, it's Cinna who pulls her out. Who assures her that, at least with him, she is already all she needs to be. And he'll be there for her. Because of him, she manages the interview positively; and yes, she could have been just a 'frilly and shallow' girl, 'twirling and giggling' for Flickerman, but she can see how Peeta's declaration has made her more; made her human, beautiful, desirable. Her initial reaction had been confusion, then rage at being blindsided in such a personal way by Peeta and Haymitch. Now she feels shame for her reaction (and the harm she caused Peeta). And all these emotions distance her further from the people who want to help her. The difference in their perspectives means that even in their final roof-top tete-a-tete, Katniss cannot accept Peeta's overtures of friendship or his openness, and he submits to her stubbornness, concluding with a Haymitch-inspired sardonic salute.

At the end of Chapter 10, she's accompanied only by Cinna, and it's his kiss and his words; his belief in her that she takes up that tube into the arena.
