btw just wanted to thank you again for writing omelette route. it has become in my head the like... prototypical example of "hey author who is currently identifying as cis. is there maybe a reason you are writing this story where a depressed character you identify strongly with wins by transitioning." like. I will see this happen in someone else's fanfic and go "Omelette Route Detected" in my head
this is both really humbling and honoring?? because fully omelette route in the moment was this fever dream that possessed me in a way i still boggle at how any of it happened. which i guess is exactly what allows it those qualities to be a benchmark for "hey person making accidental but kind of not Gender-laden art, perhaps you should think for a few minutes about Gender?". but like. omelette route as a taxonomy for this very specific phenomenon is extremely hilarious to me mostly because of how omelette route itself was both paradoxically self aware and totally fumbling in the dark (which, like. again. supremely eggcore lmao)
like looking back (god omelette route turns 7 this october...................) it very much was a real time encapsulation of that fleeting Gender Hydrogen Bomb moment of initial realization that something's up with you, and that catharsis/truth paradigm shift that rattles you before you've even grasped its shape. like even for me personally as the human being behind it i still haven't fully reached my own conclusion on what it all means for me except for the singular guiding ethos of No Matter What You Gotta Create Your Own Self. i do have a Lot of thoughts and feelings on what i did with the pochapal self insert and how that relates to myself but i don't wanna fully unpick it all until i get to the prerequisite pickle route chapter lol
that all said i am now wondering about others out there who are being Omelette Routed because like. it's a process that's not classic egg behavior owing to the level of conscious understanding and relation to the trans experience, and yet somehow both is? mostly how people with different gender trajectories work through this stuff because i think being able to encapsulate that initial instant of Becoming that can only be transcribed as it happens is super fascinating!
