The Tontatta all seem to switch the very common verb です/desu (‘to be’) and it’s derivatives (like deshita and deshou) out for れす/resu and matching derivatives instead.
It’s a simple enough change that their dialogue is still easy enough to comprehend, it just gives them, kind of like an accented/dialectal feel to their dialogue. They also tend to speak in politer Japanese, where desu is used (as opposed to the more casual da), so this quirk of theirs shows up a whole lot.
This part gets very confusing because Oda jumps around in time a lot but I appreciate Sanji calling Law to tell him this and being legitimately concerned for his safety.
I think this is the first kind of hint we get that ‘Soldier-san’ and Rebecca are connected in any way...
Zoro doesn’t know his way around anywhere, this is not a Dressrosa-exclusive trait.
‘She’s a good person because she said so’ is certainly not how these things work but I guess it helps Robin out here.
ooh I had fun with this :D [full size]
