Kaido’s had quite the glowup since the Skypiea arc, hasn’t he?
Ok hear me out
What if
Enji fails to save Natsuo due to not wanting/being able to kill the villain
BUT
Natsuo uses his (currently unknown) quirk to take the villain out himself. Enji realises that the son he spent his whole life ignoring is actually pretty dang talented, but Nat is not interested in making friends at all.
And maybe Nat decides he doesn’t like heroes much at all.
And maybe he ends up hanging out with the big bro he was so fond of when they were little.
Note: This is my brain going wild after the latest chapter. I might be completely losing it and missing stuff and just wrong, but hey.
If the new villain Ending is indeed Hawks’s father, then I can see his story being rather opposite to Endeavour rather than similar (e.g.: Ending was not an abusive father, and may have turned to stealing to provide for his family while living in rough conditions, as that Baby Hawks flashback implied).
After all, Ending’s current identity is blatantly and deliberately opposite to the one he admires - most obviously, being a villain rather than a hero. Can’t get more obvious than that. Also his name ‘Ending’, as opposed to ‘Endeavour’ suggests despair and defeat rather than struggle and triumph.
Endeavour also has a home, and a family to look after. Ending’s comments tell us he has neither - he has just returned from prison, likely the house he used to live in his occupied by another family, or gone, and if the connection between him and Hawks is what we think, then he no longer has a child to live for.
It would make sense then that he had selfless motivations than drove him rather than selfish ones, like Endeavour in the past. Perhaps while he and a young Hawks lived in poverty, Ending turned to crime to provide for them both (and wife, if there was one - considering the pattern here, I’m willing to bet there was no mother in the picture).
Then, with Hawks’s saving of the child from a car accident suddenly receiving aid and support from outside forces, perhaps Ending - rather than feel happy - felt ashamed that he was unable to do anything for himself or his child. Maybe Keigo was taken away from his father because of the squalid conditions and put in a foster family and separated from Ending.
Ending was arrested and jailed only seven years ago, and at that time Hawks would have been 15 and on his way to become a pro hero. If they were living together and with the support people promised to give them, what reason could Ending have to become so crazed with despair that he desires suicide by pro hero?
That makes me think Ending and Hawks must have been separated much, much earlier, most likely around the time Hawks was ‘discovered’. Then perhaps Ending continued his criminal activities, this time hoping for a death given by Endeavour.
It would open up quite a lot of interesting questions about the way young people with outstanding quirks are treated in relation to others, even their own family.
What if Hawks’s lifelong admiration for Endeavour was inspired by Ending’s own admiration/envy for Endeavour?!
Imagine the irony of Hawks admiring Endeavour, apparently ignorant of how Endeavour treated his children as they grew up, despite having had a father who was so broken by the fact that he lost his son and could never give him the life he wanted for him that he can’t bear living anymore.
TL;DR: The theory of a father-son connection between Ending and Hawks is barely off the ground and I’m already getting feels.
