Cale the moment someone says thank you to him:
Exhibit A:
This last little speech of Spandam’s reminds me of the big theme of the Krieg fight way back in the East Blue. In the world of One Piece, military might means nothing in the face of pure grit and determination
Hey Aby,
How are you doing? I hope you are well.
I had a random thought when reading the Easter special chapter (I cannot remember the number). Grey says to Sebastian 'you weren't dead after all' which I find a bit strange considering what we know about Grey. He said a few times he is not scared of anything he can cut with his sword and that he is afraid of ghosts, spirits etc. Considering he was the one that stabbed Sebastian I would have expected him to be a bit more concerned about Sebastian being alive. I feel like they brushed over this a bit too easily. I can understand why it works with the other servants (although I think that was forced as well) but it makes no sense for Grey.
What are your thoughts? Apologies if this was answered already, I had a look but I could not find anything.
Regarding ch66, Frenzy
I also think it's odd that Charles Grey isn't terribly concerned that Sebastian isn't dead. I don't have a licensed copy handy right now, because I boxed them up! (What was I thinking? I should have boxed them last.) But doesn't Sebastian just laugh it off? Or Tanaka laughs? 🤷🏻♀️
Since Grey saw him "dead", he either thinks it's odd but possible that Sebastian survived, after all.
Or he has quickly learned there are things he cannot kill with his sword....
I wish this encounter had been explored some more, too.
Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 66
Throughout this arc, Lucy has been desperately trying not to inconvenience everyone-- she insists on fighting even without her keys, and at the climax, she was ready to give herself up. In her opinion, the right thing to do was hand herself over and go back to her father.
(She doesn’t know that Phantom wouldn’t just hand her back either way, but that was besides the point.)
That’s how she has survived her whole life-- being the good girl, not being in the way, and being as little of an inconvenience to her father as she can. If things can be solved with a bit of a strained smile and a bit of discomfort, she will go that way like a businesswoman would. That’s what she did (and tried to do) with Bora in joining Fairy Tail. And from the beginning these attempts have always been thwarted, thematically telling her that it’s not the right method after all.
In the end, to join the guild, all she had to do was go up and ask to join. She didn’t need to try and trick her way in and earn favour, nothing like that. And in this arc, that happened too. Instead of running off to solve it herself, she pleaded to Natsu, and simply cried to everyone for help, because she wanted to stay.
And everyone responded to her.
All she had to do was ask for help-- and just that was something that was so difficult for her. She never had that liberty with her father, because she would only be seen as a nuisance back then.
This character arc peaks here, when she finally realizes that this is what it means to genuinely be loved.
