spike/spuffy fans are always going on about late s5 spike like "late s5 spike hits different" and "what was in the water during s5" and the water was just Simon from Chance [2002] because it was filmed at the exact same time.
So tell me about... your favorite non vampire movie lol
First, I love you
Second, bold of you to assume I watch non vampire movies
I mean the obvious answer is bill and ted but NO Im gonna talk about Amber Benson's `chance' 2002
There are like 3 people who've actually watched it [hmu for the Google drive link] but it's genuinely PEAK
There isn't much of a "storyline" because it jumps around allot and the main plot isn't actually that long, so pacing can be an issue for some people but I fucking love it
Spoilers from here on out
So it starts with the titular bitchular Chance doing a beautiful voice over about the nature of humanity which sums up almost exactly how I feel as someone who struggles with derealization and we IMMEDIATELY go into Simon [her roommate] finding a dead body as she's speaking
From there the "story" is her finding out about the body, arguing with Simon, realizing the girl isn't dead, making up with simon, roll credits
But in-between that we see about her mother and her friends and her father and her crush who's a gay man but she never finds out because we only find out through Simon and how she met Simon although it was a lie but a GOOD FUCKING LIE and asexual mention
Little bit of acephobia [it was 2002] but I jumped for joy when I heard the word mentioned and explained in this movie as an aroace spec myself
The film is about family and life and death and such pure raw HUMANITY it's so good, I love when it plays around with sexuality and gender, and not only ALL OF THAT but we also get these chunks where a song will be playing [amazing music btw, can't find it all anywhere] with nothing else and it's SO GOOD
I love the slow pace of it all but how they handle relationships OMG how they handle relationships and it's so queer and ugh the art she has in her apartment is amazing
The film is only 74 minutes [including credits and bloopers which are adorable and really tie the whole film together] but we learn so much about this young woman through what she tells us and what we see around her apartment and how she interacts with others
It has some AMAZING lines and oh my god
Please watch this film it genuinely no joke I'm being so fucking deadass right now, changed my life. Its so simple on the surface but it's FULL of meaning and it's such a comfort movie
