Confession #1168
Hi! I’ve been binging your series and I’m super curious about the cast’s abilities in the Oasis!AU. I know you mentioned Ragatha’s will be explicitly brought up more later but I’m also wondering about the others:
Gangle and Kinger’s we have a pretty good idea of considering the fight, but I’m wondering specifically how Kinger’s ability would be described? It seems almost like a summoning thing?
And for Jax and Zooble, are their abilities mostly physical and what we’ve soon so far? With Jax being pretty fast (and feral) and Zooble being able to kind of become a giant collection of parts? Or are those more avatar quirks and not their specific “ability.”
If Jax and Zooble’s are more physical, then I’m thinking about how half the cast has more physical based abilities (Pomni, Jax, Zooble) while the other half has more mental/supernatural (Gangle, Kinger, presumably Ragatha)
(This also makes the pairs/neutralizers interesting because each pair is one more physical-based person and one with more psychic stuff, almost like a balance to completely each other.)
And then Kaufmo… maybe you’ll go into this later but I’m wondering what his ability is?
And ending this (super long) ask, I’m also curious how you would rank the characters in terms of strength/power/OP-ness?
I appreciate the interest! Thank you for asking ^^.
I'm surprised and VERY impressed that you were able to see that there were Primary Metaphysically Gifted (PMG) and Primary Physically Gifted (PPG) characters. You were correct in noting that there is a PMG and a PPG in each set of neutralizers. THANK YOU for SEEING my vision!
This posts contains spoilers to those who had not read Oasis!AU entries of Arc 1.
This is a long answer, sorry.
Kinger of Oasis
This takes into account that he is "Awake."
I've sketched additional to his part, since it's it stuff you can SEE, and because most of the confusion seemed to stem there??
I've reached a new level of procrastination. The max level, I think.
Instead of writing my WIP (which is so close to be finished) I was thinking about my main characters and how they would be if they were in a video game. Like what their abilities would be. What class (tank/damage/support) they would be.
Was the idea fun? Yes, I love video games
Do i recommend it? Yes, even if you don't play games. It might inspire you especially if your genre is fantasy/sci-fi
Will I ever get to finish my draft if I keep getting ideas that don't really benefit my story and spend my time thinking about them instead of actually writing? Probably not but what are you gonna do—

BACKGROUND!
After receiving his PhD overseas in Scotland, Dr. Soren Kessler returned to the U.S. and entered into the corporate sector. He worked on various projects and watched with the rest of the world as the original Overwatch fell.
Years later, he’s approached by what he believed to be the American government with a contract to recreate and better the original super soldier serum after its formula’s destruction during the dismantling of Overwatch. Soren agrees, signs the contract, and quickly gets to work. In order to boost humans’ natural abilities, he begins splicing animal DNA with his own DNA. A year into his contract he administers the formula to himself, through an injection port paid for and installed by his beneficiaries. The serum wasn’t perfect yet. Soren mutates into a hulking amalgamation of human and owl, destroying his lab and his research in the process.
When he finally regains his human mind, he finds himself caged underground in the Red River Laboratories. Under the guise of the United States government, the Conspiracy had duped Soren into signing a trap contract. A small hidden clause stated that on the predicted occurrence of property and research destruction, they practically owned Soren until he paid the debt off and/or finished the serum for them.
After four years, Soren feels no closer to finishing his work and his human body is becoming more and more mutated as the animal DNA corrupts his own. He attempts an escape that is quickly squashed. After being in a cell for several days, Soren is released and presented with a new objective: maintain Subject-013’s physical health.
Given only a basic file, no knowledge of the Chernobog Project, and no defensive training, Soren finds himself in the field with Emre Sarıoğlu. Completely unaware that he was supposed to be killed in the crossfire on his first mission as punishment for trying to escape.
