Edit: LOL. I thought I lost this post and did another. Now it appears.
Still working on my AU's Papyrus, but couldn't resist using paint pens to explore an idea of his design.
Papy is basically the "looks scary, best buddy" type. Which, helped him greatly during the time he spend in the Royal Empire.
He is actually a doctor and very good at stitching up monsters, humans, and other things. He is even good at mental and emotional damage and hence one of the few monsters other monsters feely showed their true emotions and fears.
Papyrus was raised by his "Grandpa Serif" after the Cave-in and his coat is a memento of the human mage that was his grandfather, one of the many original Mages sealed away with monster kind. Due to this, Papyrus has a soft side to humans even after the declaration by the King that all humans outside Mages and ghosts were lesser and stripped their rights after the death of the Prince. He believes in "killing with kindness" so he treats even those who spite him. Yet, he does has finite patience and a promise to be strong to protect the weak... Which the many bone needles and knives he has stored away in his coat becomes tools of punishment to those found guilty of ths laws as he had the job of Royal Judge due to his ability to put his emotions and opinions away from the matter at hand.
Yet, very few remember Papyrus clearly after the Lost Hours. When his sister and Papy reappeared decades later, many simply put it as a side effect of being survivors of the Core Meltdown as several ended up flung into future or deep into the parts of the caverns that took years to return to the Underground. Undyne is one of the few who remember Papyrus well and bonded right back with her "partner in crime" much to Papyrus's annoyance as he often has to clean up her messes and make sure she actually is presentable before leaving the lab.
Role-playing has always been an issue for Papyrus as he always puts his all into whatever job he is given... Which never ends well for any puppet type monster. Yet, when Sans got pushed into the Scout Corp with having no record of existence, let alone old job to give her a new one... Papyrus absolutely refused to let his sister go to the Surface alone after finally getting one of his family back... Even if his memories of her are holely than rotten Swiss cheese.
Papyrus is a very serious person and... oddly very Japanese like. Which is probably why he blended into Japanese culture very easily even though hates anime and manga outside his otome and dating sim related stuff. However, his sense of humor runs in the vain of slapstick instead of jokes and puns... Hence one of the vains he has with his sister... The other thrwe being her lack of fashion sense, her otaku tendancies, and her old lady taste in things.
Papyrus has no qualms of his love of fashion and sewing, hence always confused by the bullying and teasing he got as Iwatani Moshi for his tastes in interests... Which with the pressure from his "surrogate parents" and school... He had a bit of a bad boy phase that his sister had to break with otome and other dating games to break the "role" of Moshi taking control of Papyrus.
Papyrus's bandana is also a menento, but refuses to talk about it... Often saying it is too painful even with his bad memories. Yet, it is connected why he refuses to let his sister suffer anymore after she lost everything due to her "wish." He, too, is a Mage, yet can't remember his wish outside it related to the Lost Hours and it worked with Sans to save the Underground and everyone in it from a "fate worst than death."
