Character ask game: Loid (or Shopkeeper)

I'll do both!

Loid/Twilight

First impression: Waku WAKU! I genuinely thought he was very cool. His initial face reveal shot is iconic and I genuinely liked his character from the first page.

Impression now: about the same, just add more screaming cat meme because of his childhood and temple massaging because he's an idiot. Still love him dearly! (I am a Loid simp🤣)

Favorite moment: Chapter 58.2 where he and Bond escape a burning building. That shot! *Chef kiss*. Bonus: anytime Loid gets soft as mush around Anya or Yor.

Ideas for a story: gosh I have too many WIPs for this man...

Unpopular opinion: I strongly disagree with the idea that the reveal between him and Yor will be something dramatic/a fight. SxF is a comedy, one that Twilight actively thinks is a thriller. So it would make sense for the reveal (whenever that happens) to be pretty mundane. Not forgettable! But just not filled with pain and angst.

Favorite relationship: im going to give three as a treat since I can't decide. Romantic - TwiYor. Hands down. No other ship tops it. Parental - Loid and Anya, of course! And lastly, Bond and Loid. The bestest boy and his master!

Favorite headcanon: I have a few, but I like the one where Twilight's original name was Rolo. Since most of his identities use the Ro/Lo syllable, it would make sense, and also go along with what his friends say in chapter 62.3.

Shopkeeper

First impression: (ch. 2 doesn't count imo since we just "hear" his voice). This man is Genuinely terrifying.

Impression now: KEEP THIS MAN THE FUCK AWAY FROM LOID FORGER PLS.

Favorite moment: I do like how he explains why he's protecting the survivors of the Gretchen family. It's almost wholesome, even if drenched in murder/mob lingo.

Idea for a story: drawing a blank here. ;_;

Unpopular opinion: Shopkeeper has never been Yor's Paternal figure. That's always been McMahon and I will die on that hill. He's more of her mafia uncle, giving her jobs and will protect (or eliminate) her if needed.

Favorite relationship: none. We haven't seen enough of him, imo

Favorite headcanon: he wears a sheep fleece on his head/on his hat giving him a literal "wolf in sheep's clothing" vibe.

hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff 

Maybe one of the most unambiguous Gryffindors in anything, ever?? He’s all about conviction and action, and explicitly and repeatedly describes his essential motivation as fighting for a noble cause.

best quality: He’s profoundly self-sacrificial, but not for its own sake. As a child, he flung himself into pursuing his dream for a better galaxy, and no matter how horrific or traumatizing, his dedication to that cause and that hope never falters. It’s not that he has any desire to punish himself or die; he treats what he’s done as a real and terrible sacrifice on his part, he quickly tumbles into love with Jyn and turns smiling and hopeful about it, he does his best to maximize chances of survival. He just believes in the cause that much.

worst quality: He’s relentless, with others and himself, so fixated on the abstract cause that he can disregard the feelings and lives of actual people. His establishing moment is murdering one of his own people, and while he’s not happy about his assassination mission, he readily cooperates with deceiving and exploiting Jyn. He’s outright indignant at her anger over it and never expresses any kind of repentance.

brotp them with: Kay! I think it’s important that Cassian persistently treats him as a personal friend.

needs to stay away from: the Death Star. And probably would be better off in a different line of work. People will get used to anything, generally; the fact that he hasn’t after twenty years speaks volumes. He’s fine in battle, too; it’s specifically spying that fucks him up. Pretty sure the Rebellion needed spies more than combat leadership pre-Yavin, but IMO Cassian himself would be much better off in a more straightforward role.

misc. thoughts: I’m so glad that he survived the war and was able to process his trauma and establish the space ACLU while happily married to Jyn.

general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would banghogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff (Darcy is all about reflection and formulating philosophies and debates and WHEE WIT AND CLEVERNESS)best quality: He thinks carefully, likes being challenged, and is willing to reconsider both snap judgments and lifelong assumptions, even when they’re all he’s ever known. What is both factually and morally correct is vastly more important to him than what’s comfortable or flattering.worst quality: Snobbery is the obvious answer, but I think it’s his fundamental desire to believe himself intrinsically better than other people, on multiple fronts. If they’re not part of his private world, they just don’t matter very much—for both good and bad, a lot is filtered through a fundamental egocentrism.ship them with: Elizabeeeeethbrotp them with: Jane! I have a post about it floating around somewhere—they have their differences, but also a lot in common, and there’s this affinity that quietly develops between them; they come to like each other without really interacting much. But I think it’s unflinching, thoughtful adherence to his principles.worst quality: He's vicious when he loses his temper.ship them with: Aragorn, Éowyn, primarily. He’s pretty generally shippable, tbh—but Faramir/Aragorn is my ultimate Faramir ship.brotp them with: Arwen! I went them to be artsy politics bros while Aragorn is off on all those decades of war.
