Maybe one of the most unambiguous Gryffindors in anything, ever?? He’s all about conviction and action, and explicitly and repeatedly describes his essential motivation as fighting for a noble cause.
best quality: He’s profoundly self-sacrificial, but not for its own sake. As a child, he flung himself into pursuing his dream for a better galaxy, and no matter how horrific or traumatizing, his dedication to that cause and that hope never falters. It’s not that he has any desire to punish himself or die; he treats what he’s done as a real and terrible sacrifice on his part, he quickly tumbles into love with Jyn and turns smiling and hopeful about it, he does his best to maximize chances of survival. He just believes in the cause that much.
worst quality: He’s relentless, with others and himself, so fixated on the abstract cause that he can disregard the feelings and lives of actual people. His establishing moment is murdering one of his own people, and while he’s not happy about his assassination mission, he readily cooperates with deceiving and exploiting Jyn. He’s outright indignant at her anger over it and never expresses any kind of repentance.

needs to stay away from: the Death Star. And probably would be better off in a different line of work. People will get used to anything, generally; the fact that he hasn’t after twenty years speaks volumes. He’s fine in battle, too; it’s specifically spying that fucks him up. Pretty sure the Rebellion needed spies more than combat leadership pre-Yavin, but IMO Cassian himself would be much better off in a more straightforward role.
misc. thoughts: I’m so glad that he survived the war and was able to process his trauma and establish the space ACLU while happily married to Jyn.
Hey, I just finished my complete reread of Recovery None, and I love it. Waiting for it chapter by chapter was fun and exciting, but getting to read the complete story from beginning to end was such a treat. I love your writing, and the story is just so perfect. It's awesome!

My headcanon is that this style of tattoos (also the ones we’ve seen on most clones in TCW) is typical for Coruscant and that most clones get ones in this style or mix it with Mandalorian style and symbols (kinda clumsily because nobody really bothers to explain these things to them) I just really like the idea of there being many many styles and traditions regarding tattooing in their galaxy

I know I've already spoken to you, so sorry to bother you, but your Kylo responses give me Life. I kind of want to know what you think of him as a villain, though, since that's what he'll be. I personally think he'll be a great one, and I'm excited to see what he'll be when his training is complete. What do you think of him as a villain?

Honestly, initially I wasn’t very impressed with Kylo as a villain. He’s clearly got power, but his technique is terrible (the dude swings his lightsaber like a sledgehammer and has no idea how to use his size as an advantage), and he spent most of the movie fucking up.
BUT. I’ve grown to appreciate him a lot more. I actually credit arguing with Kylo apologists for this. I’ve come to realize that Kylo has the potential to be possible the most effective enemy we’ve ever seen.
As I mentioned in some of my posts, Kylo ACTUALLY killed one of the main three! That’s huge, thematically and narratively speaking.
Moreover, he’s a descendant of Vader. He’s got impressive Force power (though I think he needs to work on fine-tuned control) and more importantly, he’s a manipulator. He’s Han and Leia’s kid, and Luke’s student. So he knows all of their emotional weaknesses. He knows how to manipulate them.
He’s poised on a trajectory similar to the heroes, but in the opposite direction. Training should refine his raw power into skill and power. He’s big, he’s scary, he’s attractive, and he’s done the unthinkable. I’m afraid for Luke, I’m afraid for Leia. I think he’s dangerous in the best, villainous way.
I’m really excited to see what he’ll do in Episode VIII.
I was wondering, in your essay you say that Barriss still wants the security of being a Jedi Padawan, and I was wondering why does Barriss want to still be with the Jedi? She obviously doesn't like them very much, and I don't think she could live with herself if Ahsoka ended up taking the fall for her. Why doesn't she want to get caught? Like her point (that the Jedi have lost their way) is totally lost if Ahsoka gets caught, because I don't think she feels the same as Barriss, at least not now.
Because if she gets caught she dies.

I’ve been informed! I have found a few females, but sadly they’ve all had DEEPLY terrible stats--for Haven, who is already a very fleshed-out character with a specific backstory despite not existing, I don’t think I’m playing Pokemon right you guys, I need the kind of stats that would make her having a history as a competition fighter make sense.
It’s cool though! This is kind of the point I think, carefully searching for pokemon in the wild and all.
Maybe I’ll eventually find someone to trade with XD
