For my Frozen Fire readers! I’m trying out a little project, and I decided to post the recipe for Kale’s stew! Which is normally Steele’s favourite meal that he can get while traveling. Usually, Kale uses venison (I use beef when I make it) or other meat that he can get on the road, red meat is prominent in this recipe though!!
I’m hoping to perfect a recipe for Steele as well, we’ll see what I can work with xD This IS a slow cooker recipe, but I’m sure with adjustments it can be made in a regular pot too! <3 Enjoy!!
Day 3 Gage's Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins (13 days of Halloween)
Hello friends! Today I wanted to share with you a very special recipe.
In Life in the Shadows, there is a character named Gage who we always see with a yummy treat of the day in his bakery. His warmth and light help our main character Livia connect back in to the world and he is a good friend, listener, and gage of her mental state. One of the things always in his case is muffins. Check out this excerpt from Life in the Shadows to see what I mean!
I am lucky enough to even have time to take the long way to work and stop by the Grind House before punching in less than eight minutes late which, according to the hospitals punch clock, is perfectly on time.
I’m not so lucky when it comes to who greets me at the counter. I was looking forward to just catching a glimpse of the cheerful baker, not having to interact with him.
“Hello gorgeous.”
I freeze. That was new. My hair is still wet and scraped back into a messy bun, the fly-aways being the only places that are dry and currently soaring around my head wildly from the wind. I’m pretty sure these were my slightly stained scrubs too, but I don’t want to look down and draw attention to them.
“What’re you in the mood for?”
And there is that smile. That light at the end of my tunnel. Old Livia might have had the balls to say you. Today’s Livia was hiding my shaking hands by clutching my wallet.
“Uh, just water?”
“A water?” He looks a little disappointed. Maybe I should have gone with something that wasn’t free.
“Water.” I managed to mumble again.
His smiled cools a little but is still there, something I would keep with my through the day. “We have bottles in the cooler over here,” he gestures to the register, bringing a shadow hovering behind the counter to my attention, “or did you want iced?”
“Ice?” I repeat. I feel like a two year old. Why did I do this to myself today? Did I really need anything else in my life to be embarrassed about?
“Ok, anything else?” I was having a hard time seeing the baker’s bright light through the shadow that has come to hover next to him. I shake my head, looking down at my wallet. “Ok. Hey, here.” I hear the glass door next to him slide open and the crinkling of parchment paper. “Try one of these. On the house. Maybe you’ll try something new next time?” He shoots open a paper bag, the sharp noise making me jump, and slides an enormous muffin inside. He folds over the top and passes it to me before jogging off to fetch my water. Was he so energetic about everything? I feel tired just looking at him.
I manage a small smile, my cheeks shivering from the effort and raise both items slightly in a silent thanks. Maybe I would actually get something for lunch today besides lime Jell-O. I could smell the still melty chocolate through the bag and it’s divine. I look forward to it.
Yum, a giant, gooey chocolatey muffin you can smell right through the bag. Yes please!
This is one recipe I make sure to bake multiple times every fall and winter. It’s always a quick sell out at craft fairs and bake sales and it is just DELICIOUS!!! If you’re a fan of chocolate and pumpkin than these muffins are going to knock your socks off! So let’s gather our ingredients.
What you’ll need:
3 cups of Flour
2 cups of Sugar
4 Eggs
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 cup oil
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp Baking Soda
1 can Pumpkin
1 cup Chocolate Chips
Now we take these ingredients and follow some quick and easy steps.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix all ingredients together excluding chocolate chips. Beat until batter is golden yellow. Fold 3/4 cup of your chocolate chips into the batter.
Scoop batter into lined muffin tins, fill muffin cups approximately 3/4 of the way. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
Bake muffins at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
You can also make this recipe into a cake! Follow same instructions, but use a greased tube pan instead of muffin tins and adjust your cooking time to 1 hour at 350 degrees.
DON’T FORGET TO SHARE YOUR BAKING PICTURES AND COMMENT BELOW!
13 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN IS A SPECIAL TREAT FOR ME AND MY READERS. ON HALLOWEEN, THERE WILL BE A VERY SPECIAL GIVEAWAY I’D LOVE FOR YOU TO TAKE PART IN. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO ENTER IS COMMENT OR SHARE THIS POST TO YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA.
As a ‘treat’ to all of you, and to our readers of Desert Butterfly (which has updated with a special chapter today!!) I’m posting another recipe!!
Though, this one is a little bit of a surprise since Ruka is still quite a mystery as a character. Ruka LOVES chocolate, and sweet things (funny enough...) and I have a homemade hot chocolate recipe that would make him proud! I’ve already made this myself, and it’s some of the richest, creamiest hot chocolate I’ve made in a long time. Enjoy!!
I even took a picture of how delicious it looks <3
