the gang has a sleepover :) i tried my best to make sure they were all touching without a reference so don’t judge my anatomy… i just needed to put my polycule sleeping headcanons out there
One thing (of many things) that I love about Chardee Macdennis: The Game of Games as an episode is that it really sells you on the fact that these guys genuinely enjoy spending time together. The fake sophisticated wine drinking followed by the screaming and war cry intimidation? That’s four people matching each other’s freak.
chardee s17 compilation (so far) - thoughts/ramble under the cut
ok so a lot of people are talking about the return of macdennis as a homoerotic friendship rather than an abusive relationship (yes!!! i'm here for it) but also the chardee dynamic feels oddly fresh as well i think? i'd love to know if other people feel the same way?
first of all, they are back to matching each others energies. i loved seeing them unashamedly picking at the staff doughnuts together in 17x01 and holding their hands up at the same time when they're being yelled at. i love that charlie is ready to hear her scheme out and offers her dennis' coffee.
in 17x02 he is oddly impressed by her dumpster diving and there is this strange sort of... flirty energy to him? like he's teasing her in quite a flirtatious way? am i crazy?
then we get to 17x03 and he's insisting she say yes chef, no chef, etc. the "... yeah? 😏️" when she finally says it has the same kind of oddly flirty energy. meanwhile she literally does not gaf and just says yes chef to shut him up, but she does it so happily! by the end she even calls him chef during that final chaotic scene in the ambulance. she has no fight in her at all this ep; even when she's in severe pain from the heat of the burger. she's just really jolly and i loved it. i was cracking up everytime she came in with new injuries all cheery and charlie was just like "damn they got you good huh?". that is SUCH perfect early series chardee content. plus them huffing and puffing with the chilis was so good that i had to include it even if it was literally for a second each.
it feels like both chardee and macdennis are returning to an earlier iteration of themselves but with an added layer of history. does that make sense? like macdennis are back to being two goofy fellas but with a new awareness of sexuality. mac is gaining his confidence back, and dennis is in a much better place mentally (still standing by the he's-taking-his-meds-finally theory). it feels like they're on (slightly more) equal footing again. chardee are also back to being silly and matching each others energies by doing sweet and silly things, but charlie seems a bit more mature (?) and they feel like they're on equal footing again too!
it kind of works as a parallel because it almost feels as if dee and mac are feeling more secure and they're no longer desperately trying to assert themselves as charlie and dennis' 'partners' (so to speak). because they're not trying too hard, charlie and dennis are relaxing back into it and feeling more comfortable.
anyway I can't wait to see what the rest of the eps have in store for us - but so far i am loving it.
