The public has spoken against it, the backlash was there, then Germany started opposing it too and the Danish proposal seemingly stopped. But now suddenly on the 12th of November they're going for another push, in a rather deceptive manner. On the 12th of September the EU will be voting on whether to implement Chat Control, which would give states access to automatic scanning of all forms of private messaging, images and videos, including on apps with end-to-end encryption like WhatsApp, in the name of protecting children. Not only is this in itself a huge security risk in multiple ways, it is also just ineffective. Linked above is an easy to follow email template, which I strongly suggest you make use of if you live in the EU.

But seriously PLEASE email your reps about the Chat Control law trying to pass in the EU. It is a major breach or privacy and goes against our laws (atleast here in ireland). It silences free speech and will target innocent people, creating even more economic downfall and back log of reports, making it harder to find the real criminals.

Yes, that same Chat Control which is supposed to protect children. Because if that scanned and stored data got leaked:
