Like I said in this answer, Papyrus uses the internet only for checking his brother, not because he is truly interested making new friends. He is such a loner. Sans always gets in troubles and Papyrus has to check him every time. It’s like his second job, a job that can be very unfair most of the time since his brother behaves like a piece of shit with him, but Papyrus is too much overprotective. It seems, Papyrus suffers some sort of Stockholm Syndrome towards his brother.I may imagine he met you because of his brother; Papyrus just controls his friendships, if they are not manipulative or pervert persons. When he talked to you the first time, you thought it was Sans and you did not know he had a big brother since Sans usually does not tell to anybody he has a brother, he keeps his stuff to himself. Papyrus did not speak so much to you; he just wanted to know if you were ok. Then, he understood you were not a danger for his brother, so he left you with your business. The second time he spoke with you, it was because you contacted him, since you understood that last time you did not chat with Sans but with somebody else and Sans told you it was his weird brother who acted like a creep sometime. You were a little angry, so you sent a message to Papyrus asking the reason why he pretended to be Sans. Papyrus was a little shocked because it was the first time someone found out his behaviour. He was caught! Papyrus acted like an innocent with you, saying it was all a mistake, just like a misunderstanding, he was a good liar and it’s easier to lie by chatting, so he thought this story was over. Then, you started to text him the next days because there was something you found interesting in him. You just wanted to be his friend since you were already Sans’ friend (which is saying a lot about your social skills, since Sans is a difficult person to befriend so you should be super friendly). Papyrus is not so rude so he decided to answer at you messages anyway until it became a routine and he started to appreciate your company. He understood why his brother likes you. Some months passed, he felt truly attached to you, he considered you like his friend. Actually, Papyrus did not fall in love with you through a chat, it’s pretty weird for his tastes. He needs the physical contact, he wants the person to be next to him, and he has to touch them, perceiving them with all his senses. Internet is not enough to him for a relationship. Papyrus could not handle a long-distance relationship, it would bring so much stress to him and he is already messed up. It happened after he saw you in real life, it was the moment he fell for you, during the first friendship dates you and him had. He is very rational so he does not follow the heart so he is not the “love at first sight” type, since things usually are not what they seem and he does not want to suffer. For your first meeting, I could imagine something simple, he would have never met you if he was not so sure about your intentions, and if he was not sure that you were a good person. You know, internet could reserve bad surprises. He was able to defend himself but he did not want to lose his time with assholes. Luckily, you were not a maniac or a weirdo, so he was glad.You and Papyrus had a date to some café, chatting from the most stupid arguments to the most philosophical. He was so happy to hear your voice, to see your face and to be able to live you in the real life. After the date, he understood he did not want to leave you, because he still missed you. He did not kiss you because it was too early, but he hugged you warmly, it was something so sweet and tender.
