I'm a little late to this, but I really wanted to thank you all for 1,000 hits on One Will Die Before He Gets There on Ao3!!! I don't think I've ever hit a number that high in all my years of publishing my work online, so this is really really special for me.
So, really, thank you for anyone who's clicked on my fanfiction, here or on Archive of Our Own. I really appreciate the support :)
Just in case you are one of the many who hasn't check it out, I'll list them here:
Archive of Our Own
Tumblr
My brain is like one of those bingo roller cages, just jostling around the same ideas all day until one decides to pop out at the bottom. Here's that idea.
I want to write a story where Kit and Ty have a sort of secret-ish relationship at fifteen-sixteen but Kit runs away from home, inevitably leaving Ty behind. Many years later and Ty's at the tail end of graduate school, Kit comes back to Los Angeles, just to see Ty again. And Ty has to juggle the life he's built for himself--where's he truly happy--and reuniting with his first love. It'll all be about relearning someone who you once knew so well and deciding if things in the past are best left there.
I don't know, it's fuzzy and barely in reach, but I feel that if it leaves the confines of my own mind maybe I'll have more incentive to actually write it. Who knows, don't get your hopes up.
Kind of a Chain of Thorns Spoiler (but also not because who is surprised):
Out of everything from Chain of Thorns that did make me frustrated (which I think is shorter than other people’s, but still a list), the biggest thing is James breaking our 2-0 record of Herondales having sex in caves!!
We had a good thing going here Cassie, why did you ruin it?
I just read about Kit Connor "coming out" and I'm downright shaking and can't keep my mouth shut.
I was an active follower of Dan and Phil during their peak (which might say more about me that I'd usually share) and I'm getting war flashbacks. I was in the thick of it while teenage girls were conspiring about the "true nature" of Dan and Phil's relationship, for fucking YEARS. People that made compilations, edits, fanfiction about these two consisted of a huge chunk of the fandom. And it was insane. I will admit I read a few in my younger years but the difference here is that I grew the fuck up and saw how incredibly creepy and invasive it was.
And now I'm seeing a parallel with Kit Connor. That's somehow even worse because he's a CHILD. A TEENAGER. People out here on Twitter (which is a cesspool, as we all know) threatening him because he's "not gay enough to be playing Nick" if downright absurd. People are fucking crazy.
It's not your business. Point blank period. I love Heartstopper because I love seeing a queer show aimed at queer teens that has genuine, sweet messages. It's feel good. If Kit was straight, I'd love him as Nick. If Kit was gay, I'd love him as Nick. His PERSONAL sexuality has no impact on his ability to play a character in a goddamn tv show. Representation matter, yes absolutely. I will always prefer queer people playing queer people; but I'd never go out of my way to harass someone who I didn't think was "gay enough" to play a character, especially if I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THEIR SEXUALITY WAS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
The world needs to learn when shit is no longer something they can have a say in and that there are real people on the other end of their screens. The empathy of this generation is fucking astounding because it's day after day I keep seeing it shrink.
I hope people feel real fucking ashamed of themselves.
Hmm, nothing makes me feel more like I love being alive than spending eight straight hours writing
(especially when I should be study for a BioChem exam)
