At The Grange, Benenden, Kent, the Prunus 'Taihaku' (great white cherry) was flowering. This was the garden and home of Collingwood Ingram, known as ‘Cherry’ Ingram who helped restore this cultivar to Japan where it had become extinct. This amazing Cedrus atlantica (Atlas cedar) is a specimen tree on the lawn of The Grange, Benenden, Kent. This large evergreen tree started life as a seedling in the Atlas Mountains, of Algeria and Morocco, where it was collected by Captain Collingwood Ingram. He purchased the house in 1919 and developed the garden including his Prunus (cherry) tree collection.
