This slow cooker chicken Philly sandwich recipe makes a tasty and easy meal that tastes just like a traditional Philly cheesesteak. In a tasty broth, soft chicken, onions, and bell peppers cook together. Then, the whole thing is put on hoagie rolls and topped with melty provolone cheese.
Ingredients: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts. 1 onion, thinly sliced. 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced. 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced. 2 cups chicken broth. 1 packet dry Italian dressing mix. 4 hoagie rolls. 4 slices provolone cheese. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: In the slow cooker's bottom, put chicken breasts. On top of the chicken, put sliced onions and bell peppers. Put the Italian dressing mix and chicken broth in a different bowl and mix them together. Add the sauce to the chicken and vegetables. Let the chicken cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours, until it is soft and fully cooked. Take the chicken out of the slow cooker and use two forks to shred it. Bring the chicken back to the slow cooker and mix it with the peppers, onions, and cooking liquid. Cut the hoagie rolls in half and put some of the chicken mixture on each one. A slice of provolone cheese should be put on top. If you want to melt the cheese and toast the rolls, you can broil the sandwiches in the oven for a few minutes. Before you serve, add salt and pepper to taste.
