Let The Right One In (au) part 2
Jayce gets a strange new neighbor new door…

trying to keep my drawing up. Watched the film and currently started reading the book. And I thought that Viktor and Jayce worked really well with Eli and Oskar.

Chapter Seventeen: Itchy
A young Ximena struggles with running the forge on her own, and doing her best to support her son.
“I haven't got this one!!!” He shows her what suspiciously appears to be yet another rock to add to his already considerable collection. “It's the best one ever!!”
‘This one’ is mostly dark grey, but with a sliver of pale, silvery-blue, running through it.
“Jayce! Just–”
But Jayce can’t ‘just’. He instead carries on as if Ximena hasn’t opened her mouth, his current thoughts too big to be contained in one painfully enthusiastic young boy. It’s quite possible that for Jayce, she hasn’t spoken, or at least that her words haven’t registered inside his busy mind.
Jayce, it seems, is the whirlwind owner of what he has self-diagnosed as an ‘itchy brain’.
“You know like itchy fingers? Or…or…itchy feet?”
“Yes mijo, I know all about ‘itchy feet’. If I didn't, I wouldn't have left Ixtal, or come to Piltover, or met your father, and then there would have been no you!”
“Hmm…you understand then, I suppose, although I don't like the idea of ‘no me’.”
“I'm sure you don't. What…what has this to do with you having trouble concentrating?"
“Well, just like the itchy feet and fingers…my brain does that.”

Not tiny! I'm a child ☺️☺️ but I'm still biiiig and strong!

Sleepover (to go with scrapyard)
Taking a break from my mini Husk comic to do this. I know Viktor was revealed to have a family (though it’s unclear how long they lived after he went to school) and therefore, probably had a home. But I just see Jayce and Viktor going out of their way to build a fort/shed/lab. Working so intently on their experiments that they just end up sleeping there. I picture little Jayce always being covered in scratches and dirt even if he’s been inside all day. Following the coolest guy around Zaun like a puppy while having the freedom to be himself. Viktor isn’t used to having friends and would sooner call Jayce his assistant first. But we all know the truth.
And no. Jayce’s mom has no idea about the shed and Jayce will make sure she never does.
Superhero
“Jayce….”
“Viktor, I think there must be a piece of you in ther—-“
——
I love the games in where people dare to subdue the big monster. And Jayce just loves messing with his normally impossible dungeon master boyfriend. (Viktor isn’t impossible on purpose, he just doesn’t know how to make an easy quests. Jayce is basically here to lesson Viktor’s intimidation which he loves and hates). —it’s silly but I love kid Jayce and kid Viktor being huge nerd boyfriends.

Day 1: Twist Ending
————-
"That's what happens if you so much as look at me."
He turned the knife so a small wedge of wood popped out of the trunk. A piece of flesh. He whispered, "Go on, squeal like a pig." He stopped, thought he heard a sound. He looked around, holding the knife by his hip. Lifted the blade to his eyes, checked it. The point was as smooth as before. He used the blade as a mirror, and turned it so it reflected the jungle gym. Someone was standing there, someone who hid not been there a moment before. A blurry contour against the clean steel.
He lowered the knife and looked directly at the jungle gym. Yes, But it wasn't the Vallingby killer. It was a child.
There was enough light for him to determine that it was a girl he had never seen before. Jayce took a step toward the jungle gym. The git didn't move, just stood there looking at him.
He took another step and suddenly he grew scared. Of what? Of himself. He was on his way toward the girl with his hand tightly dosed around the knife, on his way to stab her with it. No, that wasn't true. But that was how he had felt, for a moment. Wasn't she scared?
———- (only names had been changed. But this is lifted directly from the book, Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist)
He stopped, pushed the knife back in its holder, and put it back inside his jacket.
"Hi."
The girl didn't answer. Jayce was so close now that he could see she had dark hair, a small face, big eyes. Eyes wide open, calmly looking at him. Her white hands were resting on the railing.
"I said hi."
"I heard you."
"Why didn't you answer?"
The girl shrugged. Her voice was not as high as he would have ex-pected. Sounded like someone his own age.
There was something strange about her. Shoulder-length black hair.
Round face, small nose. Like one of those paper dolls in Hemmets Journal.
Very... pretty. But there was something else. She had no hat, and no jacket. Only a thin pink sweater even though it was cold.
The girl nodded her head in the direction of the tree that Jayce had cut.
"What are you doing?"
Jayce blushed, but she probably couldn't tell in the dark.
"Practicing."
"For what?"
"For if the murderer comes along."
"What murderer?"
"The one in Vällingby. The one who killed that guy?"
The girl sighed, looked up at the moon. Then she leaned forward again.
———Again. These are just sections of the book. Only the names replaced. Eli, the Vampire, is thought of as female, but is actually male. I just love their interactions in the book. So sweet and innocent against the harsher and perverse attractions from the adults in the book. Since Viktor was said to be asexual, I thought the dynamic was perfect. A romance without the physical expectations or gender titles.
Highly recommend the book. And I’ll be doing these doodle comics. Since they make me happy and these sort of scenes make me smile.
