Bad day.

First thing to note was that there were good days, and there were bad days. Lately? It had been a bit of the latter. The new location brought less sleep to the whole family, mostly due to Snoop being restless and having nightmares about the new house and monsters. It was a tiresome experience, to say the least.

“....Can you look again?” The parent had asked wincingly earlier in the day to a grocery clerk — Because she couldn’t locate Snoop’s favorite fruit snacks. They went without. Snoop was very whiny about it as well.

Now, they were sitting on a bench as Nellie tried to collect herself, looking like she’d been run over by two and a half trucks. An exhausted nervous wreck, and Snoop was biting, chewing, and tugging on her ear playfully. Nellie didn’t even flinch at the teeth.

“ Hey, babe. Kids are asleep, ” arms wrapped around her middle from behind, fingers brushing through fur in an affectionate caress over her stomach. It’d been a long, exciting day for the girls, so their putdown was fairly short and easy that night. “ Maybe we’ll get a little time t’ ourselves before we turn in. ”

      alberto wouldn’t admit it out loud, but there were definitely a lot of things that he didn’t know about the surface world, even though he’d convinced himself that he was absolutely an expert on all things human. there were still things that surprised him, and he tilted his head slightly as he looked down at chilli, moving to bend down into a crouching position, resting his hands on his knees slightly. 

    “ hah.. funny looking slobbery tail-shaker. ”     he noted, his eyebrows lifting upwards. he could have sworn he’d heard some humans call them ‘dogs’ but that was stupid -- that didn’t come close to making any sense or suiting them at all. he grinned slightly, reaching out a hand to lightly prod the dog on the top of her head in a small pat.

        “   hello ma’am ---   i’m officer hopps of the ZPD.  ---------- i’m really sorry to trouble you, but if you can give me a moment of your time, i’d like to ask you a few questions.”         taking her carrot pen out of her pocket, judy offered a small smile to the blue heeler dog, trying to appear reassuring. she was in no trouble, of course, there had simply been an incident, and judy was doing her best to gather witness statements. zootopia was a vast city, with so many altercations, thefts and shady dealings happening often. 

this particularly robbery had been.. quite nasty, however, and judy glanced towards the store in question that had been taped off by her coworkers. nick was closeby, taking statements of his own, and judy focused her attention back onto chilli, pen hovering over her pad.             “  can you tell me exactly what it is that you saw?   ”
