It is Special Agent Fox Mulder’s belief that on November 27th, 1973 in Chilmark, Mass, just after 8:53 PM, that his sister was abducted by aliens while they were watching TV. ("Little Green Men" X-Files, TV) This belief comes from a recovered memory during a hypnotic regression therapy session. ("Pilot" X-Files, TV) Others have challenged this reason for the disappearance of his sister. The child molester and serial killer John Lee Roche claimed that he kidnapped and murdered Mulder’s sister Samantha and that the alien abduction was just Mulder’s way of dealing with the trauma. ("Paper Hearts" X-Files, TV) Later, Michael Kritshcgau from the Defense Department claimed the abduction was a hoax by the US Military as part of fostering a false belief in UFO’s to cover up their covert spending and operations.
