Not your standard #Chivas 18. This has been finished in #Mizunara cask. The sugary sweetness of the standard 18 is dwarfed by a more spicy profile. Plenty of cinnamon and incense, the later is particularly present in the finish. Honey and stewed pear sweetness is also present to compliment the spice. The Chivas #Mizunara cask #whisky. Decent, though really misses punchier incense notes. Without knowing the details of maturation I'd suggest this needed more time in the Mizunara cask. Though if you get a chance to try the #chivasregal 18yr old Mizunara then don't miss it. Chivas 18 finished in Mizunara cask is a drop that comes with a lot of added expectations. The incense notes that are the hallmarks of a Mizunara aged whisky is very slight so that was disappointing. Though the whisky as a whole is very good value for its price. Bottled at 48% abv with sugary sweetness with hints of incense passing by throughout the experiences. I'll say this - the #chivas 25 is a very good whisky. For me there were two drawback. The first, 40% abv is slightly lower then my liking and then the price point of $470AUD. Though if you like your whiskies smooth without the high alcohol content and price is no issue this is spot on. It is dried fruits dipped in chocolate saucer!
