Thanks to everyone for the support and participation in the #chokaruiweek2026 doodle session! Special thanks to @twnj for their awesome work in detailing the Akimichi Initiation Ceremony, in which Choza welcomes Karui into their family; and Choji and Karui standing in the rain after the 4th War: "Rain washes away to reveal new beginnings."

I really love the "New Beginnings" prompt--bittersweet endings and memories, mixed with new starts and occasions. I believe one thing that goes unnoticed with Choji and Karui is how their insecurities are placed on them by others. The comments they receive are all things I've received at one point or another. But there's a time for everything: to heal, to love, and to celebrate with people who care about you.

#Chokaruiweek2026 is almost here!

The theme is "New Beginnings." When Choji and Karui came together, they knew they had many firsts ahead, from weddings, birthdays, to meeting each other's friends and families.

This year, we're celebrating their "New Beginnings" with a doodle session on Magma!

➡️How does this work? On May 8, I'll open the online doodle board (1-2 pages) and share the link. Include your handles so we know how to find you. I'll share the board on the blog and participating channels.

➡️Can I post before May 8? Yes! Will be checking the tag throughout the week of May 4th--May 10th. Please tag art, fics, edits with #chokaruiweek2026 so we can circulate!

➡️Rules? When participating in the doodle session: No NSFW; No vandalism, slurs, harassment; No genAI.

"Have you ever been chosen last for the team? Or felt like no one wanted you around?"

"No."

"Right!" Choji chuckled, nervously. "Someone as confident as you would never have had that experience. I was stupid for even thinking that...."

Her gaze lingered on the horizon where the mountains met the sky. A sharp pang like lightning struck the inside of her ribcage. What was this memory? The snide faces of her peers, their disgust that she would dare to exist in their presence.

"You're not stupid...Choji." Her gaze softened. "Far from it."
