The city of Chong Qing, what I would consider her a tier-one city in China that houses over 20 million inhabitants, while situated on an extremely mountainous geography.

So much so that no one rides a bicycle here. With its modest train network, there's still plenty of walking to do here in order to reach each of those more interesting places.

Winter rain greeted us as we land and continued to follow us throughout our journey there.

The 72 Wonder Tower of Zhangjiajie China!

From the exterior at the daytime, it almost resembles a condominium. Nothing fancy or eye-catching, to which you will easily miss it if not for you knowing it's actually a tourist attraction!

However, when night comes, and if you manage to get yourself an admission ticket, that blog of housing estate magically transforms itself into another world packed with live performances, good food and even a complete museum!

The performance must be the main draw of the venue, as costumed actors appear around the town hall, captivating their audience with voice-overs, songs and dances.

It was a cold night I recalled, and the turn-out crowd that came was surprisingly big. The visual of the 72 Weird Tower was simply spectacular, as captured by the Xiaomi 17 Pro.

Chongqing, Where Hotpot Meets Tea & Spirits 重庆，火锅江湖里的茶与酒

This is Part 3 of my Chongqing adventure.

In Chongqing, every meal feels like a story — from the fiery hotpot bubbling with spice, to the soothing aroma of tea, and the bold kick of Chinese wine. Thanks to Wenrui’s connection, we had the rare privilege of experiencing all three together: Chongqing’s iconic hotpot, Wenrui’s family’s treasured tea, and an incredible winery that crafted a special pairing just for us. Truly a feast for both the senses and the soul.

Along the way, I also indulged in some of my “unique favorites” — scorpion, centipede, cheese bugs, snake — and of course, a little seafood for the more normal taste buds, hehe. We then stepped back in time inside Chongqing’s old war-era bomb shelters, before being swept away by Chongqing 1949, a breathtaking Broadway-style musical at the Grand Theater. Just outside, we explored the buzzing streets lined with shops, tried the famous crab dumplings, and even visited a mahjong museum.

The day ended with our unforgettable Wine-Tea Hotpot — a perfect finale to a journey where flavor, culture, and leisure come alive in the heart of Chongqing.
