Hi folks! I’m still kinda under the weather...but I had to say something. This is serious.

I’m about to sound like Senator Amidala for a moment.

In other news, which I’m sure you’ve heard through the news, Facebook and Twitter, our US Secretary of Education proposed an $18 million dollar cut to Special Olympics and Special Education programs across America to pursue her own selfish reasons. Not only is this proposed cut shocking, it’s evil and immoral, and it tells people with developmental differences, like myself and @phoenixnici-strange that we do not matter to them.

We are Special Olympics Athlete Leaders from Ohio and we strongly oppose this cut. I have been to one international games 2 years ago, won a bronze medal and a sixth place ribbon in my respective divisions in ice dancing and freestyle, my sister and family got to go and cheer me on.

We both have come a very long way from when we were in preschool, when the doctors told our adoptive parents that we would be severely retarded for the rest of our lives. Guess what? By the grace of God, the faith that our parents, teachers and our coaches had in us, we thrived and turned out amazing!

There is a way that you can help. There are petitions and the numbers are growing. Please help your Special Olympics Progams! Send this to as many people as you can!
