Some thoughts about ... Fantabulosa!, Michael Sheen and Kenneth Williams

First of all, I hold Michael Sheen in high regard as a marvellous actor, I really do! He did a great job with his portrayal of the sublime Kenneth Williams in the biopic "Fantabulosa! The Kenneth Williams Story", even if its script consistently isn't as marvellous at all! 

Please allow me to quote Kenneth Williams' biographer Christopher Stevens in this regard, taken from his magnificent book "Born Brilliant - The Life of Kenneth Williams":

Williams was portrayed in television documentaries as morbid, lonely, socially inadequate and consumed by guilt. A trend for TV dramas that depicted Britain’s post-war comedians as drunks, perverts and lechers threw up a play titled Fantabulosa!, which proved the single biggest obstacle in the writing of this book. Williams’s friends agreed that the actor who played him, Michael Sheen, was very clever, but the script was a travesty. No one wanted to see anything more like that.

Lately, I've got more and more annoyed at all the Fantabulosa posts going around here (sometimes really disgraceful and/or pointless ... no one who has only the slightest idea of Kenneth Williams’ nature would dare to post such rubbish, besides I can’t stand these scenes in the film either!!!!), obviously only in appreciation of Michael Sheen which is perfectly alright in itself, but ... also tagged #kenneth williams, what the heck ... ???

Just a minute! Oh, of course ... your turn, Mr. Williams! 

Legitimate objection, Sir. Thank you! ♡

I'll never get that because almost nobody on this hellsite is honestly interested in the real Kenneth Williams, his unique talent and his complex personality, both inimitable, not to speak in his partially unhappy life! Even less when only Michael Sheen is in the spotlight with those posts. That's why I would appreciate if you'd stop tagging them #kenneth williams, and please, this is no personal offense but ... Kenneth Williams as well as Michael Sheen do not have to put up with standing in each other’s shadow ... that’s all! Thanks.
