Fun fact about nemesis and the world of tower of Fantasy
Spoilers ahead!
The whole world is an unstable and sick version of earth. Everyone wears suppressors to keep themselves healthy or at least functional.
The Mc passes out the minute you run out of energy reserves on your suppressor in the beginning, and if shirli and Zeke hadn't found you, you would have succumbed to the sickness and become one of those zombies you fought just one scene before.
Shirli however, she used more energy that she should have for a shield and the use of it shocked her suppressor, the damage allowing her to be immediately infected.
Everyone expects Zeke to put her out of her misery while she is handling chronic pain and just getting sicker, Zeke can't bring himself to do it and takes her away.
You try following him and find out later that he has taken her to a doctor who replaced her infected limbs with prosthetics and there's some trouble making her stable while the illness from the environment still effects her body and traumatized mind.
Shirli becomes nemesis, under your enemies watch, and as far as I'm aware while she now has prosthetics, is doing better and stronger, she no longer uses a suppressor and still goes through chronic pain.
In a way everyone on that earth is chronically ill and the only thing keeping them alive is their suppressors.
Zeke himself already seemed to have prosthetics when you first meet him, likely what lead him to believe going back to the organization he and shirli left would have a solution to helping her, though I doubt he expected how much of her would become less flesh, and less shirli as a result.
Disabled people are everywhere! Just because you don’t see us, doesn’t mean we don’t exist.
Is it possible that some trans people could possibly by being outed due to having a medical conditions more common in their AGAB. Like a trans woman with haemophilia, which is excessively rare in cis women. Also things like color blind people are 95% male. Even if not outed, any dysphoria in having conditions like this?
Outed seems super unlikely unless someone was already being clocked, but dysphoria can definitely be a thing.
A thing to remember though is that a lot of reasons why certain conditions seem to have a big gender bias is because of confirmation bias and underdiagnosis of people with atypical expressions of an illness. Like, I know this to be a major thing with diagnosis of autisticness for example. And I know that many doctors are going to be less likely to test people they think are DMAB as having Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome for example, because it’s seen as more common in women.
These things super vary based on condition.
Another thing, is that generally our medical files will say so if we are on hormones or something. So doctors might be more likely to know this. But honestly even then that’s not necessarily going to happen. Like I know of so many trans women who get asked in triage when their “last period was” and generally get a lot of “I don’t know what that is” when they mention their hormones and androgen blockers as medication.

I’m not saying it’s bad to show recovery from illness in stories. I’m all for recovery. But if your character’s recovery comes immediately after a spiritual or emotional epiphany, you send the message that spiritual failing is what keeps sick people sick.
Probably you don’t mean to do that: you just want to give good people happy endings. But we are responsible for the stories we tell and the way those stories impact people.
