I constantly feel the need to remind other hunger games fans that District 12 is Appalachia. The folk music and blue grass that the covey sing are meant to sound like old folk music about coal miners. The fact that there mostly coal miners there is a big thing too it means that they live high in the mountains. They are poor and impoverished much like Appalachia. I feel like anyone that says it's not is just flat wrong because it's stated in Chapter 3 page 40 of THG.

Crazy how the Capitol was fine with sending 12-18 year olds into the games, slightly sad when they had to bring out past tributes (some of which are super old), but not at all okay when a girl bears an unborn baby in her which could lead to the death of that unborn baby, even if that was going to be the fate of the baby in the future.

Plutarch Havensbee was the head of the revolution, and he had employed her. Haymitch was the one responsible for leading the extraction operation for Katniss and the other rebels, and he was not only her victor, but also her working partners for solid two decades and a half. Cinna and Portia were both actively working in the Mockingjay propaganda from the inside of the Capitol for two full editions in a row, and were directly responsible for the start of the riots on the districts (since they gave them the symbol), and they’d been personally hired by Effie herself…. oh but they really broke those pretty fingers down there. I mean, how can you convince evil people that you are not a rebel when you have your footprint all over the rebel scheme completely by accident??? They ripped those nails off for sure

Mockingjays mimic, taking a simple song sung by someone else and turning it into a beautiful melody that reverberates the message of its original singer.

Katniss was the Mockingjay because her song, her message, her resistance, was sung by many before her; Lucy Gray, Haymitch, Lenore Dove, Tigris, Cinna.

Katniss just carried on the tune.
