One of my favorite things about the 50th Quarter Quell is the irony that the whole point of sending twice as many tributes into the arena was to show that strength in numbers means nothing against the Capitol's might and IMMEDIATELY this was the year that the Newcomers form and a record number of districts decided to become allies to combat the usual Career allyship. The Newcomers proved that strength in numbers worked because it kept Haymitch alive to be crowned the Victor and the Capitol had to do some serious editing to tell the narrative that they wanted. I wonder if the edited propaganda successfully dissuaded an anti-Career alliance the following year or whether the Gamemakers heavily enforced a stricter division amongst the tributes the following years until eventually all thoughts of a mass district alliance was forgotten by the 74th Hunger Games. Maybe the following groups just didn't have a kid as smart and persuasive as Ampert to lead the idea.
