Photoshoot with Daren Cornell
recently I was fortunate enough to get a long awaited photoshoot with Daren Cornell.
With Darens "eye" I think we captured some really great shots. Here are s few. You can see more of his work on his website

One baby step at a time, go Team Ceej!
So my journey in my acting career has not been easy, nor should it be. I believe that "the journey is the destination".
I don't have one of those great stories you here about, you know those ones where you actually have better odds of winning the lottery but yet it still happens to some people. The "I was just walking down the street with my blue umbrella and a legitimate agency rep or manager saw me and was like, I like your look, and I'm going to represent you and make you famous".
The the other 99.999999999999 to infinity percentage of us it's much more difficult.
The day in day out every day grind of submitting for gigs, trying to network, cold emails to producers, directors, film makers, work shops, and classes. Not to mention the daily, weekly mailings and online submissions to various agents and managers hoping to get a meeting and find representation.
It's exhausting, discouraging, exhilarating, madding, frustrating, and amazing all at the same time.
Sometimes you need a little kick in the butt to re-motivate yourself to stay on it.
I recently got that swift kick from an wonderfully talented and beautiful actress friend of mine Keely Kathleen. While chatting with her one day, she was discussing some of her "Summer Goals." One of which, finding a new agency to represent her here in Los Angeles. She is from NC with representation out there. Well that was all it took, the focus, and motivation I felt from her was the shot of adrenalin I needed to re-commit, focus, and drive forward in my own search 110%.
Well the universe threw me a little bone. One of my submissions for theatrical representation led to my first meeting with an actual theatrical agency.
A bit nervous a met with Charlie Morgan Patton another fabulous actress friend who helped me prepare. #werk
I researched the agency, its clients, prepared my questions I wanted to ask, drank a coffee, held my breath and went in. After my meeting with Logan Rees the agent that called me in, I left and waited to hear back.
tic toc tic toc. But you CAN'T just sit around!
So in the mean time re-researched, studied and did more homework on the agency. I felt that if they liked me, then I truly wanted to make sure they would be the right fit for me. Something we actors sometimes forget.
In this business, as an artist we sometimes just want to be liked, signed, work work work. HIRE ME!!! We forget that we are our own business, that we have to do whats best for our business, our brand.
Well after some work and thought, I felt they would be a good fit. That if they called, and felt I would be of value to them, marketable, then I would be pleased to sign on.
After a few days I heard from them, and very excited to announce I am now represented theatrically by Linda McAlister Talent.
Now this doesn't change anything really in my day to day life. This doesn't make me famous or land me a series regular on a network show.
I still have to work hard everyday towards making my dreams come true. What this does mean is now, I have another person on Team Ceej, and with any luck the stars will align up again and I may have some audition opportunities for actual network shows.
Also, a little fun fact, that again doesn't mean to much, but I thought was fun and thought I would share it. This agency has a client on their roster everyone knows, a Mr. Terry Kiser, or better knows as "Bernie" from Weekend at Bernies! LOL man, I love this business.
Let's Go Team Ceej!
Aliens, Cancer Sucks, & sometimes $ is greater then $$$
This week I was fortunate enough to be on set,, yes I say, YES!!!
I also turned down another job for more money, yup, I did.
So the job I took is a show on H2 called Hangar 1. An alien investigation show based on the real life research from MUFON the "Mutual UFO Network".
Why you may ask, being a "starving artist" CJ, would you turn down a higher $$$ paying job for a way way less $ paying job. Well because,,,,
it's MOTHERF%#KING SWEET ASS ALIEN SHOW!!!
If you know me, you may know I love alien shows, movies, Area 51, the universe, galaxies, Dr Who, Star Trek, and anything else alien you can think of. LOVE IT! So the opportunity to be on one, no matter the caliber I didn't even think twice.
Check out this warehouse for set, seriously, where the ARK.
My MUFON Research work station, complete with artifacts ;)
Also, I have discovered in the last couple years that my grandmother who lives back in Seattle shares a bit of my enthusiasm on the subject. When I come to visit we will turn on the discovery, or history channel and watch alien shows and talk conspiracies, other life in the universe, and visitation/abduction from UFOs and alien life forms. It was a fantastic moment for me and hopefully for her too.
This is probably one of my favorite pics of me and my grandma, as I put my old big beard in her face. :)
So last week, my grandmother called me to let me know that she went to the doctor for a lump in her breast, and she has breast cancer. Cancer Sucks. A few years ago on valentines day my uncle Dennis passed away from cancer, and unrelated to cancer I recently lost my grandfather, and am 100% not emotionally or mentally ready to lose my other grandparent.
Now my Mom and Grandma are both very notorious in my family for not being , well the most positive people. A little grumpy, pessimistic and a we bit of frustration yelling side for no reason from time to time.
So talking to my Grandma and her repeatedly telling me "I'm fine, I'm fine" is kinda relieving. My mom shouted to me through the phone that grandma is "healthy as a horse!" to which I jokingly replied, "yes healthy as a Horse besides the cancer living in her boob." (humor, my defense mechanism when uncomfortable). I do like the positivity though, even through yells. ;)
So being still in the early stages beginning of my acting career, and having not really been in, well anything really, when the opportunity to be seen researching Aliens and UFO's on a show my grandma will actually watch, there was no question. I literally dropped everything and committed.
The crew, location, talent were all been fan-freaking-tastic! Oh not to mention, the actual field researchers from MUFON that I have met and listen to numerous real life stories of UFO's, alien encounters, lots of other unexplained phenomenon.
The experience was amazing, my grandmother will see it, and be able to say thats my grandson, so in short,
Sometimes $ > $ $ $
(my grandma also owns her own bookkeeping service) hah
This last weekend I was fortunate enough to get to do a photo shoot for the 2016 Hot guys and baby animals calendar. It was an absolute blast
The top pic is a puppy Pit Bull, he was a rescue found wondering the streets of Compton. The bottom is a baby Rottweiler also a rescue. Both were fiercely adorable!
Hotguysandbabyanimals.com donates a portion of the proceeds to many nonprofit animal rescues, like the SPCA www.sfspca.org and I feel very blessed to have gotten to work with them and these amazing little pups.
Please check them out and look out 2016 I'm coming for ya. :)
