Throwback Thursday: Milwaukee Bucks Reschedule 1985 Commencement
COVID-19 isn’t the only thing to have rescheduled commencement in UWM’s history. In 1985 commencement was rescheduled from 10am to 5pm to accommodate a playoff game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers. As a thank you to UWM and the students for their flexibility, this letter from the Milwaukee Bucks was published in the May 2nd issue of the UWM Post student newspaper.

Dissatisfied with options on campus, four members of of the Class of 1985 obtain a lease on a 3-bedroom apartment in Plainsboro in August 1983. They considered the Dickinson co-op, but it was “too radical,” the Daily Princetonian explained, for one of the roommates to bear, quoting Peter Noto: “Tofu this, tofu that.
