‚How to get straight A‘s‘
Tbh, i hate these kind of posts, because usually, they make it seem like the tips in there will automatically get you straight A‘s in every class.
NO.
You don‘t need to get ‚straight A‘s‘. But if you want to, the only thing you need is dedication. Dedication to get that damn material into your head so that you can recall it not only on your test but also afterwards. And you need to study a lot if you‘ve got 5+ exams. That‘s the only thing that‘s gonna get you straight A‘s. And lets be honest: it takes a lot of fucking hard work and tears and feeling overwhelmed, but if you REALLY want straight A‘s, you gotta do this.
Teaching Prep
So, I’m making slides to teach my students about dictionary use. (Our first unit is on dealing with unfamiliar vocabulary in college readings.) And I want to make the point very early that dictionaries are the basics, rather than the ultimate endpoint.
I decided pronunciation was a fabulous way to make that point. So I’m going to cover the “tomayto, tomahto” idiom.
At which point I decided it would be a fabulous way to brighten up a rather tedious lecture to inflict Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers performing “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” on my students.
There are days when I love being a teacher!
I wish I could explain to my students THEY GAVE ME THIS CLASS WITH ONLY THREE WEEKS TO FULLY DESIGN IT. THEY PAY ME $200 A WEEK. I AM DOING MY BEST. I AM DOING THE BEST I CAN AND THEN SOME.
16 powerpoints in 16 days - can they do it? stay tuned.
