I love how plays during the 17th century about the greek mythology were just fanfictions lmao. Like in the canon events, Hermione tries to kill Andromache who's the concubine of her husband Neoptolemus and gets married to Orestes while in Andromache of Racine, the fanon events, Neoptolemus gets killed by Orestes cuz Hermione manipulated him to do it, Hermione kills herself cuz she loved Neoptolemus too much, Andromache becomes the queen of Epirus and gets revenge for her husband Hector and Orestes becomes crazy cuz Hermione comitted suicide. Jsjsjsjwhsjsd like it's just fking fanfictions

i've never read a greek play all the way through so.... what should i read first? any suggestions on what play to read first and what translation to read?

I adore the way Greek plays handle the scenes with incredible unbelievable violence that they can't show on stage

It is always like this, something terrible happens offstage, and then someone runs on the stage shouting, "It was terrible!" And then someone says "oh, no, tell me what happened with every detail you can imagine" and there is something so funny in it because this is the exact way low-budget films do with action scenes they can't afford shooting.

I'm glad that more than 2000 years passed, but something didn't change at all.

shakespeare is actually very good, gay and funny. man said "im writing a play about crossdressing, gay crushes and psychological torture and nobody can stop me"
