I got waaay behind on the lookback thing and I don't think I have the energy to catch up. But in the spirit of "no posting new dolls" i'll instead share this girl.
She came to me last March in pieces, a sorry state of a doll with missing fingers, a detatched leg, a detatched head and badly chopped hair.
At the time I assumed she was a legit Sindy because she really did LOOK the part. And remember, i've been collecting Sindy dolls for well over a decade, I know my 60s girls. Even in hand she felt pretty good. But her hair was the giveaway.
see, a legit Sindy from this era will tolerate boil washing very well. This girl did NOT. Her hair shriveled immediately, telling me she most definitely was not a pedigree doll.
Here's how she looked when she arrived and how she looked after her unfortunate incident with the boiling water.
Now here's the thing, her body still FEELS pretty damn close. The legs feel correct, the arms feel correct, the torso feels correct. It's highly possible the body IS legitimate and at some point her original body was swapped for the broken damaged legit body.
But damn she's a good clone.
Her lashes are a touch too long for a legit Sindy, her eye paint a little too sloppy, her lips a little too off centered, but whooo she is very very close.
Close enough she fooled me and i'm supposed to know my shit!
Anyway, she deserved a reroot so I gave her some red milk silk from ali express which was actually very pleasant to work with. I had to root in a part line for her because she was originally rooted for a bubble cut but I think it works.
The red is similar to Sindy's friend Mitzi's hair so it's also era appropriate, strangely enough.
I also filled her lips out and narrowed her eyes with a thicker black lash line.
Depending on the angle of her head she can look pissed off or sassy or kinda demure. I enjoy that.
You can still see the shadow of her original blue eyeshadow, another subtle hint she wasn't a real Sindy. Real Sindy dolls don't have eyeshadow, but an awful lot of clones do.
