the fact homestuck’s creator, andrew hussie, uses (afaik) any pronouns, identifies as clowngender and has never voiced a preference for pronouns, yet i have seen a increasing uptick in people using strictly she/her for xem and calling them transfem despite the fact honk has never said anything about being transfem. these people also say that using they/them or he/him for her is somehow misgendering despite those literally being pronouns he uses.

i was thinking about how to represent my gender fluidity (and just gender fluidity in general) on the psycholonials clowngender pyramid, and i came up with this

a label in which one rejects whatever label they were assigned at birth and chooses to reassign themselves their actual gender, which is a gender that is silly, in this case. This may relate to being a clown or jester, or a cringe or whimsy gender, but it does not have to be!

the experience of one’s gender being connected to both clowns and being indigenous, identifying with clowngender through an indigenous perspective, or one’s gender is inexplicably tied to being indigenous while happening to identify with clowngender

clowns and similar figures exist in several indigenous nations across the world, notably the koshare from pueblo communities, and the lakota heyoka. these figures often perform during ceremonies or other dances not just to entertain, but to teach important lessons through stories as well as perform medicine and portray balance. within the flag i chose to use colors from the medicine wheel, a important symbol seen in many indigenous nations, as well as patterns from weavings and pottery

clowngender is often represented by being an androgynous gender which is related to the colors, aesthetics, and culture of clowns and clowning. one may feel similar to a clown, engage or work as a clown, or enjoy the aesthetics of clowns. within the flag i included bright colors and patterns reminiscent of collars and hats often associated with clowns and jesters

the black and blue stripe represents self expression, understanding, and acceptance

the red stripe represents joy and happiness that ones identity brings

the orange stripe represents gender nonconformity

the yellow stripe represents connection to one’s heritage and nation

the green, white, and purple stripe represents interconnectedness of ones identities within being indigenous and clowns
