hmm, clythia for the character ask thing?
Ohhh, that's a tough one!
How I feel about this character:
Well, let me see. She owns humans as slaves and goes to war to fight for their enslavement. She's canonically as cruel as Amarantha. She falls in "love" with a human commander, but continues to fight for the Loyalists and still sees Fae as superiour.
In a way, she quite neatly summarizes the things I hate about the way humans and Fae are presented in acotar. Because Clythia, for all her horrible actions, is presented as the victim by the narrative. The way her story is told tries to make the audience sympathize with her (and maybe Amarantha), it is made to sound like she was an innocent. The person who is made into the villain in the story is not Clythia, who fought to enslave an entire species and stubbornly refused to change her mind. It's Jurian, one of the people she fought to enslave and who killed her in the end. To say I hate it would be an understatement, actually.
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
No romantic ships for slave-owning assholes.
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
No one, but I'm going to say Amarantha here because why not? The whole Evil Sister Duo certainly could be really interesting, but it kind of gets jeopardized by the fact that they are both so completely and utterly stupid. It's like they're in a competition:
Clythia: I'm going to fall in love with a human enemy commander. Even though I'm literally trying to enslave his people and he's fighting for their freedom, I see nothing suspicious at all in his interest in me.
Amarantha: I'm going to make "love" the solution to a riddle in a competition that could end in my downfall. This is such a good idea, especially since the entire point of the competition is to prove how much you love your bf.
At least it's clear that they are related! Stupidity seems to run in the family here. But for real, I can't take either of them serious at all.
(And I kind of like the idea that no one of the Loyalists took them seriously either.)
My unpopular opinion about this character:
I know I already talked about this in the Jurian post, BUT I asolutely hate that when the story of what happened with her and Jurian is told, it is made to sound like she was the victim in the situation. Yes, she was the one who got murdered, but she was ALSO the asshole who went to war for her "right" to own humans as slaves. Besides, she was a commander for Hybern, aka the people who regularly torture people for fun. Yet, the narrative makes it out to sound like she was some innocent girl that Jurian killed only to hurt Amarantha. Clythia is absolutely the bad guy in this situation!
What I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon:
I really like the idea of her being a seer! There is one line about how she "promised Jurian he would live forever" and that definitely sounds like she has some prophetic abilities to me. Besides, her having had visions of Jurian and her in a relationship is the only logical reason I can come up with for her interest in him.
I also think it offers some interesting possibilities? I like the idea of her having visions that are actually kind of self-fulfilling. She tells Jurian that he will "live forever" and that's actually the reason why he does, because Amarantha knows of the prophecy and thinks she can't kill Jurian, so she imprisons his soul instead. And how things she tells him (maybe somthing like "Miryam will leave you for a Fae") might influence his actions and help lead to the exact outcome she prophesised.
