I was thinking about how BlackBonnet is now associated with the phrase 'co-captains' and how that always made me think of another couple.

I then realised that Blackbeard appeared in a Legends of Tomorrow episode. It was season 3 episode 12 The Curse of the Earth Totem. What else happened in this episode?

Sara and Ava's first date and kiss. It is also, coincidently, set in 1717.

Now, I am not usually one for crossovers, but this just feels perfect.

Somehow, the legends go into the OFMD universe and see Edward again. There's something different about him, but they can't figure out what it is (apparently he got a tan), and Edward vaguely remembers some trippy stuff that happened months prior.

There are bad guys they have to fight, but Avalance realises Edward's relationship with Stede is essential to fixing the timeline so they effectively become relationship therapists.

“It’s not contagious, is it?” Lucius asked, taking a step back.

Roach, their resident doctor, offered his expertise. "It's almost certainly fatal."

Alas, this was not the breed of malady that came with a diagnosis and treatment plan. “No, no. I only feel like this when I’m around Ed. Or looking at him from a distance. Or thinking about him.”

“The captain's not sick,” Oluwande said. “He's in love. With Blackbeard.”

Black Pete shook his head. "Blackbeard is way out of your league. He's like a powerful, majestic whale, and you're a tiny, insignificant barnacle."
