Happy Wednesday everyone!!! I may or may not be in the middle of my theology zoom session (guilty as charged) and thought that I should pop on and reintroduce myself because I know people are new to the studyblr community right now!

For those of you who do not know, I’m Isabella, the coding coffee queen (formerly the classy planner girl!). I’m a junior at a university in Chicago and am studying bioinformatics and biology! I love hot chocolate, dance workouts, candles, bulldogs, and reading. If you have any questions about bioinformatics majors, biology stuff, pre-med, or coding, hit up my ask box! I’m here to help you and be a resource that you can use whenever you need help!

A little sneak peek into my favorite desk corner (that will be soon moved to the bookcase I ordered... super excited for it not gonna lie). This has all of my favorite things: Barb, Hello Kitty, a pen in the shape of a cat, and a bunch of pens that don’t have any ink.

My MCAT prep books just arrived in the mail, which means that MCAT season is upon me... I have started reviewing some gen chem material, but I’m going to start a solid routine in late August when my fall semester begins (I’m taking the MCAT in April!).

Hi everyone! I’ve been a little MIA the past two days, but my physics exam yesterday went better than expected (thanks to me rewriting my notes, making flash cards, and actually studying and putting in effort), so that was a nice surprise! 😁

I’m off to go work on a bunch of coding projects for my data structures class (I have a challenging assignment and a final project due within the next four weeks and I’m hella stressed 🙃 but that’s okay), so I’m going to get cracking on those tonight so I don’t get behind! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

HELLO EVERYONE!!!! Since I was gone for a while (sophomore year of college will really get you, my friends) and I have a new blog name, I am going to do a little introduction post for any new studyblrs out there and anyone who is new to my blog!

I’m Isabella, a pre-med bioinformatics major who is at a university in Chicago, Illinois. I am going into my junior year and will be taking the MCAT exam in April (at least that is the plan right now!). I started on Tumblr ages ago as “bellaandherbujo”, but now I changed to “Codingcoffeequeen” for the following reasons:

CODING: I know how to code in Java and HTML, so if you need any help with either, feel free to shoot me an ask. I’m also thinking about learning some other coding languages (maybe JavaScript or trying to learn how to use React Native to make an app), so I will definitely share all of that with you (if I want to make an app one of these days).

COFFEE: I ironically do not like coffee all that much... except for those sugary Starbucks Frappuccinos (the mocha cookie crumble flavor is my favorite). However, I might start making coffee myself next semester because I like to try new things (and I am going to be getting up early to study because of my schedule next year). So, I’ll update you all on my coffee adventures.

A throwback from my first week with my new planner (because my other planner was wrecked by coronavirus changing my entire monthly calendar) along with some MCAT flashcards that I have been cranking through and a stack of sticky notes because I have bought a bajillion of Target sticky notes over the years (and am now using them).

(for those who are wondering, this is the planner I use-- the perfect size and great paper quality! I got the pale blue color)

Hi there! What’s your favorite thing about college? Also why did u choose bioinformatics?

Hi there!!! My favorite part about college is the environment and the people. I have met a great group of diverse people who are the best people I’ve ever met. I also go to school in Chicago, so the environment in Chicago is amazing. It’s filled with places to go and things to see (and snow!).

So, as for bioinformatics, I went into college as a biochemistry major, but halfway through the semester I changed because I could not stand my chemistry class. It wasn’t fun at all and even though I loved chemistry during my sophomore year of high school, I didn’t really like it now. So, I chose bioinformatics because I do love the statistical and computer science side of the major. I’m a big computer and coding nerd and, ironically, years ago my dad was looking up potential things for me to major in and bioinformatics was one of the options (and I thought it was cool!). So, I finally decided to pursue it.

It’s a really great major though. It’s great because it’s a tight knit group of people because it’s a relatively new major and it’s a major that touches on a lot of subjects.
