also i've seen countless people so far going on and on about how fifteen was such an amazing and wonderful doctor. and these people are all wrong.

fifteen is not even the doctor. he is literally out of character almost the entire time. he has no gravitas. he tortures a genocide victim. he rewrites reality to force belinda into motherhood. he gives his life to do that. he's always out of his depth. his morals are questionable at best and it's never dealt with within the story. his barber friend in story and the engine gets treated like a traitor but he risks his life to save the actual villain. he cries at the thought of rogue dying, and laughs at the fact that alan died.

for so long i was wondering if i really was missing something, and 15 was supposed to have an arc the entire time. and this isn't because i actually saw anything in the show itself, but because so many dickriding rtd fans were falling over themselves trying to defend every stupid and insane thing fifteen did. "no, this is part of his therapy arc!" "no, he's just healing!" blah blah fucking blah. none of this ended up being true. i was right the whole time. yall were wrong and yall are still wrong. fifteen has regenerated and he got to be the doctor who didn't get to act like the doctor almost at all.

in his last episode he's treating ruby like a child for remembering something he doesn't. just stop and think, would any other well written doctor do this, in this context? no. they wouldn't. they would stop and wonder if their companion IS right. if she really is remembering something he can't. would any well written companion stand for this? no. they fucking wouldn't. clara would slap him. donna would punch him. martha would blow up at him. literally any companion with a fucking OUNCE of personality would be pissed.

and this was his last episode. this is the last we got to see of him, and it's still ooc bullshit

at best, yall enjoyed ncuti's performance, which is fine. i think he is a good actor but he doesn't understand the character at all and he got pretty much no direction, and i don't really care for his performance. but if you like his performance i understand why.

but liking fifteen? it's confounding. it's weird. it's strange. it's like liking thirteen, as a character. or six, as a character. it betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of who the doctor is, as a character. all three of these doctors were massively botched in their seasons. they didn't just have occasional ooc moments, which pretty much every doctor has had. they were made of ooc moments. they were fundamentally different people to the doctor.

and i'm not going into it too much right now, but if you think fifteen's run was generally good, you need to watch a better show. and you need to think about it. because it wasn't. rtd2 fails on every level even as a simple writing exercise. if a 12 year old showed me their story and it was the rtd2 era, i would consider it weak for a beginner and help them edit it. if i was a tv show exec and a showrunner turned any of these scripts in to me, i would fire them based on the fact that they have the writing ability of a middle schooler who doesn't write. from an amateur, it would be weak but deserving of development and critique. from a professional it's frankly just fucking embarrassing. rtd shouldn't just be fired from doctor who. he should be fired from television.
