Does anyone have any recommendations of books featuring Muslim characters and/or Muslim holidays?

I'm a librarian for a K-5 school (K-6 as of next year), so anything for ages 5 to 12 or so would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to be looking at sources like Hijabi Librarians, but I figured I'd ask in case anyone has any titles they'd like to share. :)

For the last several weeks, our usually crowded YA fiction section has been ABSOLUTELY PACKED. There are so many YA FIC books here right now that a lot of them can't even fit on the shelf at all. Plus, during the summer we don't get as many teens coming to the library, which means that fewer books are getting checked out!

This means it's time for another YA Weeding Project! I'll be spending the next few weeks whittling down our collection because of age, condition, low circulation, multiple copies, etc.

What percentage of a library's collection should be digital materials? I believe a local library has less than 10% of their collection in electronic materials and they are trying to buy more.

I wish I could answer this for you, anon, but it really, really depends on the library’s budget and the needs of the community they serve. The percentage may be drastically different from one library to the next. 

That said, the COVID-19 pandemic is definitely shaking things up for libraries, most of which can offer only digital materials to their patrons during this time. It’s too soon to say how this will change digital collection development in the long run, but I definitely think that changes are afoot.
