wait i need to know more about collective man right now.

Collective Man... he's one guy who is the combination of quintuplets who also have the power and ability of everyone in communist China. I'm obsessed with him.

I'm just obsessed with him. He appears in Matt Fraction's Uncanny and the writing is racist as hell but I'm obsessed with the way he's so evil Commie in a comic from 2009. Like these other panels I shared are from Contest of Champions in 86 or something and it's more normal about this Chinese communist man than Matt Fraction 20 years later.

Anyway I really like him I'm probably gonna read all his comics one day because he's so fun. Strength of 5 men but also all of China sometimes.

This is The Collective Man, a Chinese mutant in Marvel. Mutants plural, actually, they’re identical quintuplets who can merge into a single being. They’re agents of the Chinese government, if you couldn’t guess by the fucking FIVE STAR FLAG on their chests and calling people COMRADE and their name seriously being THE COLLECTIVE MAN and their power the most obvious metaphor for Communism like EVER and them being identical quintuplets might give an excuse to make them all look alike but THE SLITS FOR EYES?! REALLY?! and look at the art, this is not some retro character either, this guy is in MODERN USAGE Like I know Marvel is racist but they’re usually at least a TINY bit more subtle, EESH

The five Tao-Yu brothers were born in Wuhan, China. They possess the mutant power to merge into one body, which variously possesses the collective abilities of all five men or all the people of China. They debuted in the Incredible Hulk #250 (May 20, 1980). The brothers also share a psychic/spiritual link that allows them to telepathically communicate and teleport to one another. The Collective Man was first seen in the Grandmaster's contest, in which various international superheroes fought one another, as the proxies of either the Grandmaster or his unknown opponent (Death). The Collective Man was teamed with Storm and Shamrock in battle against the Grandmaster's proxies Captain America, Sasquatch and Blitzkrieger; their battle was ended when Shamrock claimed the prize.
