Had this idea for a buddy comedy. It’s with these two cowboys except one of them is like a musician/preformer so not a cowboy at all. He’s in like a fully bedazzled suit that’s only a vaguely cowboy outfit in shape, but other wise not very practical. I’m thinking lil nas vibes maybe. Cool and charismatic. Great singer. Has been on a horse once on like one of those guided rides you can get. Has a couple unique skill/hobbies that become helpful at some point. Energetic but capable
The other one is like a grimy down to earth actual cowboy from the 1870s. His clothes as worn and dirty. His hat looks like it’s been in use for decades. Dirt, sun, sweat, bugs, and hard work are nothing to him. He says no to bullshit and is so done with whatever is going on. Knows how to shoot a gun but he’s not really like your suave sharpshooter type. His domain is horses, livestock, and dogs. Very practical and a clever problem solver. ‘Can’t’ or ‘won’t’ don’t exist in his vocabulary. Serious but chill.
I’m thinking time displaced shenanigans take place. And maybe they have to deal with each other’s times or better yet are lost in time jumping from one era to the next trying to make it back home. They become friends obv… Maybe more?
The comedy would be in the dichotomy of the two of them but they make it work and it’s lots of fun. Both grateful for each other’s strengths. And I think it would be cool to break the stereotypes a bit make both of them more grounded and believable as real people. And not just one note gags.
I don’t want to see any “your women and black people can vote in your time period” type conversations. That’s just lame and most people don’t talk like that. My cowboy would not care. He just cares about getting things done. He’s too far out in the middle of nowhere he would not be bothered by what rich city folk decide is or isn’t ok.
