If you may recall, last year I began binding my comic collections into hardcover books. I was fed up of these comics just wrapped in plastic, sitting in a box under my bed and wanted a way to read them more comfortably.
Originally, I paid the local university thesis binder to do it for me but he became less involved and produced a few terrible products (see here) and I decided to learn how to do it myself.
After following a lot of youtube and/or Reddit tutorials I joined The London Centre for Book Arts
I paid for 5 open-session in the workshop and after the end of my third, I’d produced 11 hard-cover books.
Of course, there’s a few school-boy errors and mistakes from inexperience, as well as some caused by over-confidence (look at the ‘E’ in ‘The Complete TOM STRONG) :D The Detective Comics trilogy are probably the most perfect ones I managed to finish. Daredevil would be perfect except I didn’t add a spacer between the ‘I’ and ‘D’ in WAID. All in all, I’m very pleased with deciding to pursue this project and even more pleased that I’m not paying that first awful bindery to ruin my comics any more.
